From my coach, T Falcon Napier, "Human beings by nature are NOT resistant to change. They are resistant to losing control." Understanding this will give you a new perspective on real life and how to develop others.
Through the ChangeWorks process, and by paying attention to tension, it is amazing to watch individuals and organizations blossom.
Nonprofit organizations belong to the public. Whether it is the board, or staff that are serving that public, they have an obligation to do the right thing. Volunteers have an equal responsibility to understand what needs to be done and to support the mission of the organization.
We sometimes lose track of that and get waylaid...but it is easy to do the right thing and not as easy to always do things right.
