When I was in college, my mom discovered essential oils by the industry's creator, Dr. Gary Young. Some smelled good and some were horrible. I thought they were all garbage! Then I went to my chemistry class where the teacher talked about the exact things my mom taught me the weekend before. The teacher talked about phenols, alcohol etc. This started my use of essential oils for health.

My first job out of college was for a vitamin and mineral packaging plant. Soon I learned that capsules are better than tablets for absorption. If you smash a mineral into a hard tablet, what do you have? A rock! Minerals come from rocks. Your body is less efficient at digesting rocks. That is why we chew our food to break it down and start the process called assimilation.

Capsules are better than rocks, because the minerals have been "chewed," or crushed to a powder. However, some capsules contain fillers or flow agents to get the powders into the capsule. Therefore, a 500 mg capsule may, or may not, contain 500 mg of a specific mineral or vitamin.

Basic Building Blocks of Life

I learned more and more about the basic building blocks of life, and we began using Angstrom Minerals for nutrition. Liquid minerals are the most absorbable form, and Angstrom sized minerals are the most absorbable form of liquid minerals.

Dr. Linus Pauling, a two-time Nobel Laureate who spent 25 years researching Vitamin C, said:

"Without Minerals, Vitamins are Useless."

When I got married, things changed. My wife was raised to be "pro-doctor." She thought I was nuts with all of my "natural supplements." However, with the birth of our second child, she became anemic. And just like I had always done, I asked my mom what she had in her arsenal of "wellness." She recommended that we use Angstrom Iron, and in just a few days the doctor tested my wife and said she was no longer anemic and that our baby would be healthy!

My wife learned as I did, "here a little, there a little," and today I often ask her, "Who�s the health nut now?" Since she became a "crazy health nut," she started wanting more and more nutritional supplements. After leaving the vitamin manufacturing factory, I moved back to my home town where I got a job that did not provide enough to meet our growing family's needs. My wife wanted a lot more supplements, so I told her, "If you can sell enough to pay for them, go ahead."

That's how Healthshop101 was born!
