Awareness, intention and attention are tools of the mind with the potential for powerful positive change in our wellbeing. How does that work? Our awareness needs to include, not only our physical environment, but also the subtle energies that surround us and are a part of our lives. Our thought and emotional fields are subtle energy fields. Subtle energies impact the body for good or for ill. They can get away with causing us problems because we are not always aware of them. While the usual more obvious things in life get our attention pretty quickly, the subtle things do not. Yet they are the precursors to both our state of health, and our wellbeing.

For example, we may be very aware of the obvious symptoms of indigestion, but not very aware of the minor stresses in our lives that we do not consciously deal with. Yet, it is the minor stresses that has impacted adversely on our health, and has led to the indigestion. On the other hand, we may be aware that we are having a perfectly wonderful day, feeling on top of it all, and not very aware of the beauty, the clarity and the synchronicity of spirit that have converged in this point in time to make it so. So, depending on the quality of our own thought/emotion energy fields, we help to allow the dis ease, or the wellbeing that we experience.

The good news in all of this is that the subtle energies around us respond to our intention and attention. We can direct it, re-direct it, teach it; it responds to us. Try this. Sit comfortably in a chair. Quiet your mind and thoughts. Take several deep breaths, fully expanding your lungs. Just relax… Now, think warmth into your left hand. Do this for two or three minutes. Do you notice the palm of your hand and possibly the whole hand feeling warmer? Most people do. You are directing energy with your thoughts.

Once you are good at doing that, try running that warm, pleasant energy all through your body. Cause it to linger in whatever body part that may need it more. Feel loving and appreciative during this time. Your intention is causing the energy flow and your attention, for fifteen or twenty minutes, will keep it moving in a positive way. This is a meditation practice and is a healing thing to do. Make it a daily practice. It will do much to counter the many little stresses that are part of our daily lives. This practice is preventive treatment and can help you create a natural state of wellbeing.
