A friend of mine recently mentioned that a relative of his grew up in the gemstone rich Chiadzwa area in Zimbabwe's Manicaland province. She used to play games with some of the stones which were lying around everywhere. To them, these were ordinary stones which were extremely beautiful and yet of no value. It was only after the prospecting mining companies came and started hoarding these stones that they realized that the stones that they had used in children's play, the stones that they had used to decorate their homes, the stones that they had kicked everyday on their way from the hard work at farms were in actual fact some of the best
diamonds in the world.
Finding Opportunities Everywhere
No matter where we live, who we are there is always an opportunity for every one of us to get something to improve our lives with. There may be a need for telephone services or a coffee bar in your area or some thing as simple as a cleaning services company. Every time we are moving, everywhere we go, there are opportunities on which we are stepping on. It is up to to us to take them or leave them.
How to Identify Opportunities
1. Be willing to learn
The greatest man is he that learns because in learning, we have new ideas, pattern of thoughts revealed to us. When new ideas are revealed to us we can find ways in which we can improve ourselves. For example, before going to college, I had never heard of the word blogging. But after reading a lot about blogging, I decided to take it up and today, my articles published across various platforms across the internet.
2. Change your circle of friends
Our circle of friends always influence what we become. Likewise, they also affect what we are exposed to. What would you like to become? Find people who are in your niche market and those people will tell you when new opportunities arise. If you want to be a singer, befriend people who are involved with the music world. A soccer passionate friend circle will not help you break into the music industry. You can't expect to find information about an industry when your circle of friends is not in anyway involved in that industry.
3. Change Your Surrounding.
When we are exposed, we develop greater ideas than we could have developed when we were stuck in our little shelves. Take the train and go to a new place you have never been. Change your route to work or school. Do things differently and you will discover there are many great opportunities in your area that you may have never thought were there before leaving your area.
4. Be receptive to change.
Change is one of the most constant forces in the universe. Whether we like it or not, there is change going on around us. Ask yourself what the current trends are and implement them as they long as they do not interfere with your co-values. Of course it is rather stupid to be jump on every wagon that comes despite the fact that it may be going far or not. It is however wiser to align yourself to change so that when the best opportunity comes, you are the first to jump in the wagon before everyone else does.
5. Be at the right place at the right time.
When we are at the right place at the right moment, opportunities fly to us effortlessly. Most of the people who have made it have not only made it because of their talents and abilities but also because they were at the right place at the right moment. Are you going to seminars, workshops or events that are related to your industry? Here is where most people discover new trends, ideas and thoughts that they can use to catapult their lives ahead. Are you a person people can talk to when inspiration hits? Do you offer valuable advice to people who are in need of advise? Chances are when they come with a great idea, they will contact you and you might benefit from their idea.
Wherever we are, there are a lot of opportunities for us to improve our lives. Had the Chiadzwa people known about the rough diamonds that were in their backyards before, I believe they would have been some of the richest people in the world today. However because of lack of skills of identifying a great opportunity, they have been chucked of their land and now mining vultures are enjoying their wealth.
Today, start finding how you can improve yourself using the resources that are around you, and give your life a meaning.
This is to your Best Life
