Full Moon in Scorpio May 6, 2012

The full moon of May 6, 2012, occurs in the fixed water sign of intense, intuitive, Scorpio. As I looked at the aspects occurring in the chart for the full moon, the sense of something hidden, which must be faced or found, came to me, as well as the full potency of potential fertility and abundance. The moon in Scorpio opposes the sun, loosely conjunct Jupiter in Taurus, bringing hidden beliefs surrounding prosperity and materialization to light. Another opposition, between Mercury in Aries and Saturn in Libra, points to the relationship, mirroring, polarity, comparing, blaming, beliefs or behaviors that may require attention. A third opposition, between Mars in Virgo and Neptune in Pisces, can make the expanse between the material and spiritual world seem unbridgeable. Confusion, disappointment, doubt, and swinging between what is "real" and what is formless is possible. Doubt leads to questions, which lead to searching, which leads to answers. I see an image of the ocean surf tumbling sharp shards of glass into beautiful pieces of soft beach glass, as well as an image of a devotee repeating a mantra over and over. Understanding, contentment or peace may not come quickly or easily. It may take deliberate mindfulness and repeatedly returning to the question or the present moment to find the perfection and peace you seek. Finally, there is a square aspect between potent, controlling, powerful, transforming Pluto in structured, success oriented Capricorn and change maker, genius Uranus in pioneering, assertive and egocentric Aries. Change and transformation may be uncomfortable, but inevitable, forced, or necessary. It may also be time to break from some form of restriction or dependence or to accept personal responsibility.

These "hard" aspects are the work of this full moon. Of course, there are supportive, easy aspects between planets as well, but are they really worth mentioning now? I feel like they might be used as excuses for not digging into the dirt and sweating through the transformation. The news online today has pictures of the "super moon". It is huge! It just begs to be delved into more deeply.
I feel like all our focus should be on the Scorpio energy of penetration - to really look inside ourselves, to really look at our relationships, motivations, fears, and to perceive the full potential of our manifesting ability.

The thought of "something more" came to me with this full moon in Scorpio. I love to use the Sabian symbols when I look at charts, but I don't often mention them in chart interpretations or energy reports because I get feedback from people that they are already receiving too much TMI or "astrologese". Without going into the whole history of Sabian symbols, I will briefly say that they are very perceptive, intuitive and emotional interpretations of the 360 degrees of the zodiac wheel. I feel the Sabian symbols for both the full moon in Scorpio and sun in Taurus may give you greater insight into the current energy and yourself. In contrast to the outgoing smile of the girl in the preceding symbol, here we see the result of a deep and complete concentration reaching to the innermost center of the personality where the Living God acts as a fecundating power. This reveals the potency of the inward way, the surrender of the ego to a transcendent Force which can create through the person vivid manifestations of the Will of God.

This second phase of the forty-sixth five-fold sequence brings to us the realization of normally hidden potentialities in the average human being of our day. Faith in the Divine is shown here being concretely justified. The human person becomes a "mother of the Living God." This is THE TRANSPERSONAL WAY of existence. It is the way that leads to creative mutations.

When Gautama, having sought in vain for the answers to his questions among the teachers of tradition, sat under the Bodhi Tree, he had to fight his own battle in his own way, even though it is an eternal fight. The spiritual light within the greater Soul must struggle against the ego-will that only knows how to use the powers of this material and intellectual world. There is no possibility of escape; it is the energy that arises out of the present moment — the inescapable NOW — that the daring individual has to use in the struggle.

This second stage symbol suggests that salvation is attained through the emergent individual's readiness to face all issues as if there were only two opposed sides. So teaches the Bhagavad-Gita. This is the dharma of this stage of human evolution: a stage of POLARIZATION OF VALUES.
