When I was 4 ½ years old, I remember being sent to my room for a nap, but instead of resting, I practiced printing alphabet letters - all over my newly papered bedroom wall. What I most recall about that day was having to stand behind the dinette door, perched right next to my mother’s old Singer Sewing Machine, until I apologized for my misbehavior. I couldn’t understand why I was being punished for all my hard work, so I stood there for what seemed like hours, rather than say the simple words: I’m sorry. Fortunately this inauspicious beginning didn't dull my enthusiasm for writing.
During my twenty plus years as an educator, I took an active role in my field as a frequent presenter at state and national educational conferences. Co-president of Suffolk Reading Council and subsequent Regional Director of Nassau and Suffolk LI Reading Councils, a number of my articles were published by ERIC (U.S. Department of Education - Office of Educational Research and Improvement), Raising Young Children Well (a book published by the North Shore child and Family Guidance Center), Newsday and the New York Times. As founder of a personalized book company, I authored children's books and poems that become personalized with facts and photos about each child.
After retirement from education, I continued to pursue my love for writing, and soon became co-editor of a Long Island Internet web-zine, LI EYE. As I created and authored the column Ordinary People, Extraordinary Lives, I discovered my special niche of investigative journalism, and put those same talents to work in my book, Sex, Lies and Cosmetic Surgery, where I was able to gain the trust of over 100 women while interviewing them about some of the most intimate aspects of their lives. www.sexliesandcosmeticsurgery.com/
I wrote my second book, Tick Tock, Stop the Clock ~ Getting Pretty on Your Lunch Hour
in collaboration with 11 nationally recognized experts in diverse fields of beauty enhancements - without the knife. www.ticktockstoptheclock.com/
After being interviewed on The Health and Beauty Revolution Show, its host, Patty Kovacs and I gradually became friends and collaborators on a number of writing projects. We have developed a most informative website to help educate our niche market of high-end health, wellness, and beauty consumers through the knowledge and expertise of a select group of highly credentialed professionals. Our FREE monthly newsletter is a highly respected resource for hype-free, cutting edge information
I received a Bachelor of Science degree from Barnard College of Columbia University, where I majored in Sociology. I hold one Masters Degree in Elementary Education and a second advanced P.D. in Reading and Special Education.
I love this Alan Alda quote so much that I typed it up in a beautiful script, printed it on bordered parchment paper, framed it, and have it hanging on my office wall:
"Sometimes you have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuitiion. You can't get there by bus, only by hard work and risk and by not quite knowing what you're doing. But what you'll discover will be wonderful. What you'll discover will be yourself."
I write a monthly newsletter where I share current news about me, my writing, new products and techniques relating to beauty, including cosmetic surgery. Rght now I am in the midst of working on a book with a panel of beauty experts on non-invasive and less invasive forms of beauty. You can learn about all these current happenings and read past issues of my newsletter, and more at: http://www.sexliesandcosmeticsurgery.com (click on the top ARTICLES tab). For your convenience, there is a sign up form on this same website Articles page, if you decide decide this newsletter is for you. Be assured that you will NOT receive lots of e-mail from me as I only write 10 issues per year. Also be assured that I never share or sell my e-mail list as I consider this confidential information.
I look forward to meeting lots of you and making more new friends here at SelfGrowth.com.
