2 Corinthians 13:3-4 “I will give you all the proof you want that Christ speaks through me. Christ is not weak when he deals with you; he is powerful among you. Although he was crucified in weakness, he now lives by the power of God. We, too, are weak, just as Christ was, but when we deal with you we will be alive with him and will have God’s power.”

We all have had something we had to stay strong in and use our willpower to overcome. It may have been issues dealing with health where we had to change our eating habits for better health. It may have been issues dealing with our finances where we had to change our spending habits to save money and get the bills paid. It may have been a decision we had to make in a relationship with family or friends.

Whatever the reason, we all have to have willpower at some point in our lives. Without willpower we would be making decisions for only our own selfish pleasures rather than for the right things in life. Without willpower we would be going off on whims doing whatever we pleased without thinking about the consequences.

We all need willpower to do what is right and for the good of mankind. However, where’s the willpower we need to live as God wants us to live? Is our willpower strong? Are we determined to do what God asks us to do no matter what? God wants us to live a life according to His instruction. He wants us to do good things for others and spread His word to others making disciples of men and women throughout the world.

Matthew 28:19-20 “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

We can’t always do good things if we leave it solely up to our own willpower. We need the power of God to help us carry out what He instructs us to do. We need God’s power rather than mere willpower to get up in the morning with a smile on our faces ready to take on a new day. We need the power of God to allow us carry one when we want to give up, to help when we want to walk away and to witness when we are too scared to speak.

We can’t make a difference if we continue to give in to our own willpower and stay in our own little worlds. We can’t make a difference if we live our lives in the small scope of things rather than be willing to look at God’s big picture of things. We can’t make a difference for God when we don’t take time to get to know Him, read His word and listen to His instruction.

There is no better time than right now, right this very minute to decide to allow God to be our power rather than attempting to resort to our own willpower. There is no better time than right now to read God’s word and tell Him we are ready to listen and obey. There is no better time than right now to allow God to use His might power to work through us and give us the strength we need to make a difference.
