There are some days when we are tired for whatever reason. Days come where we feel like we are drained both emotionally and physically. Nights come where we are so tired that we can’t fall asleep. When we are tired, we are not much use to ourselves or others. Sometimes we can’t think straight, we can’t pay attention and we certainly have no energy to do much good for anyone.
Those days may drag into weeks and months if we are not careful. We may be tired from physical exhaustion of trying to do too much. We may we be tired from emotional exhaustion because of a problem we have had. We may be tired from lack of sleep or not eating the proper foods. Whatever the reason, we need to take time to determine what the cause is and if it is not temporary, take the steps to correct it.
There are dangers to being too tired. When we are tired, our guard is down. We are more likely to get hurt by what someone says. We are more likely to lash out at others. We are more likely to say something that we will regret later. That is why we need to recognize that we are tired and determine what to do about it.
A temporary tiredness could be a sign that we do need to slow down. It could be that we need to look back over the past few days and think about what we did so we can determine what to do to gain our energy back. It may be rest we need. It may be better eating habits. It may be giving whatever we have been worrying about to God so that He can take care of the issues so we can rest better and do good works for Him and others.
Galatians 6:9 “So let's not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don't give up.”
We may try temporary ways to get our energy back by taking pills, consuming caffeine or get some extra rest. Rather thinking of temporary ways, we need to go to God who can help us gain strength and be alert in all that we do. God’s power is one that no other can compare to. There are no drugs, foods or drinks that will give us the energy that God can. There are no other books or remedies that can do what God can do for us.
When we find we are tired, we can give everything to God. He can increase our alertness, give us energy and keep us going night and day. If we focus on Him and trust in Him, He will reveal His will for us. We will see changes in us where we are working diligently for Him. We will realize that the tiredness has gone away and He has revived us to do good works giving Him all the glory. He will give us new strength.
Isaiah 40:31 “But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.”
