Have you experienced some recent obstacles in your life personally that have caused you to quit? How many of you have found yourselves at times complaining about your own life. I can honestly say that I am guilty. But what I have discovered is that when you are complaining about your life. You either have not set any goals and written them down nor discovered your passion or your purpose for living. Now if you have discovered your passion and purpose for living and have set goals and written them down. What You have now done is taken your eyes off your goal and your now focusing on the obstacles that you face. Truth is goal setting is a stress free, formal personal planning process for success. Obstacles will come but we cannot allow ourselves to focus on the obstacle raither than the goal. We have to focus on our goal. Goal setting is nothing more than setting goals on a routine basis for what you want to achieve. Then moving in a step by step manner towards achievement. If we are allowed to go through life without any obstacles, we would be crippled. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. Helen Keller, the famous blind author and speaker, said: "Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, vision cleared, ambition inspired and success achieved. Silver is purified in fire and so are we. It is in the most trying times that our real character is shaped and revealed." You have to remember, it's not the obstacle that you face; its how you perceive that obstacle, and more importantly, how you deal with that obstacle. They say that there are 2 great days in a persons life.. The day they were born and the day they discovered why. I Have discovered my purpose in life! The people who are successful have really figured out why their here. Because they know their purpose in life it is a stability for them. They are confident based on the knowlege of their purpose. I believe that inspiring young people all over the united states to live their lives on purpose, Intentionally and by design is my purpose in life. If we want to be moving forward in our lives of purpose on purpose, we have to stay focused on our purpose for being here and what we want to accomplish. When you focus only on the obstacles they will hold you at bay, and if you stay there long enough they will cause you to quit. Work diligently toward your goals, but do not impose excessive pressure on yourself. There is no need to risk your health by being overly stressed. We live in an increasingly distracting world. Instead of allowing all the interruptions to overload your brain, stay focused. Calm down by reminding yourself that you have a dream and a goal to complete it. You do, don't you? Precious time slips by when you are dwelling on something that made you feel angry or upset. Don't let that happen to you. You take the man that owns his own business. Who spent 10 years building that business and a major obstacle threatens his business. He now focuses on the obstacle that he is now facing raither than his goal. He gets angry and focuses on the obstacle so long that it causes him to quit and close his resturant. Now he has clients who are driving by everyday in hopes of a great meal and he is no longer there. What will he do? He will have to go all the way back to the starting line and start over again. The problem is that in most cases he won't ever get started again. Why? because he has developed what we call a fear of failure. Once you are afraid to fail it will paralyze you into doing nothing at all. Motivational speaker Mr. Les Brown in whom I consider one of my mentors said it like this: Life is a fight for territory once you stop fighting for what you want. What you don't want will automatically take over. We cannot let the obstacles in life destroy our ability to pursue our goal. Why not look at obstacles as an opportunity to become better. Now only losers focus on what their going through, while champions focus on where it is their going to. Theres a big difference! I like to say it like this! and it's my quote" always focus on where it is your going in life, and never on the obstacles that you will face on your way there.
