Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) micro- and nanoparticles are highly spherical, optically clear, and can be dissolved with solvents. These PMMA particles are hydrophilic, transparent, amorphous and colorless thermoplastics that are featured with excellent UV resistance.

What is PMMA used for?
Polymethyl methacrylate is a transparent thermoplastic. It is a synthetic resin made from the polymerization of methyl methacrylate, and is commonly used as a lightweight or shatterproof alternative for glass in products such as shatterproof windows, skylights, signs & displays, LCD screens and aircraft covers. PMMA are transparent and durable, and due to this characteristic, it is also widely used in medical and dental fields where purity and stability are critically required in performance. In medical technologies and implants, PMMA can be used in the manufacture of rigid intraocular lenses, and in dentistry, it is used in the fabrication of dental prosthetics, artificial teeth, and orthodontic appliances.

PMMA micro- and nanoparticles for research
PMMA are spherical polymer beads, and as mentioned above, they are transparent thermoplastics and are synthesized from methyl methacrylate polymers. PMMA particles have many features, such as high impact resistance and heat resistance, which make them commonly used in various research applications in the development of life science, medical technology, MEMS, optics and high-performance composite materials.

CD Bioparticles offers a portfolio of PMMA micro- and nanoparticles for drug delivery, bioimaging and biomedical devices as well as a wide range of other applications in bio-scientific research. These particles have multiple sizes ranging from 25 nm to 750 µm. Additionally, Creative Diagnostics’ DiagPoly™ spherical polymer particles are available with plain, functional or biomolecules conjugated surfaces.

CD Bioparticles’ PMMA particles can be applied in:

Drug delivery
Biomedical devices

CD Bioparticles' research team has years of experience in such polymer particles, and we produce these particles in the range between 20 nm to 100 µm. For instance, DiagPoly™ Plain Fluorescent Poly(Methyl Methacrylate) PMMA Nanoparticles, Red, 25 nm(DNG-P009), which are 25 nm PMMA nanoparticles encapsulated with red fluorophores (excitation: 552 nm, emission: 580 nm) and there is no additional coatings or special functional groups on the surface with a maximum polydispersity index of less than 5%.

If you require a specific PMMA particle or want to quote any other polymer nanoparticles and microspheres, please don’t hesitate to contact us to check our product portfolio and capacity. In addition, it is noted that we also offer a customization service such as immobilization of antibody on beads for your needs.
