Most of us face challenges we do not know how to deal with when it comes to dieting and food. Having a better understanding of our bodies can help us make better food decisions for a better health and a sexier body.

Many people have the problem of having food cravings. Scientists have shown that food cravings usually occur around your bed time. However, when you do not control your food craving, then what started as a bed time snack will soon turn into binge eating!

If you were to understand that most food cravings are not for satisfying our real hunger needs, but are due to emotional stress or gluttony, you will find it easier to target this problem and solve it once and for all. The following are some ways in which you can do it.

First of all, you probably know the phrase - out of sight, out of mind. You cannot consume food when it is not to be found. Therefore, you should clean out your cookie and biscuit container and replace it with healthy foods like nuts.

You should try to understand your own psychology. Are you more likely to experience food cravings when you are stressed or bored? If you are able to accurately recognize these triggers time after time, you will find it easier to cope with your emotion which is causing you to have the cravings for certain food.

Next of all, you should also get sufficient sleep. When you do not have adequate sleep, your stress levels will become higher and you will start to have more cravings. Additionally, when you are sleeping, chances are that you will not have cravings. This is not the case when you are awake.

Exercising will also help you to boost the amount of endorphins produced by your body. Endorphins are the feel good hormone within your body and help to fight stress. Therefore, you should seek to live an active lifestyle if losing weight is your concern.

Replace the foods you are craving for with foods which are low in fat and sugar content. A good example will be to take non-fat chocolate yogurt whenever you crave for chocolate.

Skipping meals is one of the best ways to help you get even more food cravings. If you want to stop your food cravings, then you should really not skip any meals. Staying hungry for long periods of time will only cause you to desire unhealthy foods very often. Try to break down your current meals into five to six smaller meals each day instead.
