If you are lucky enough to have an extra room in your home that is supposed to be for family and friends when they come to visit, more often than not it tends to become a fine home for items that just don’t seem to have a place to go or the guest room seems to turn into a convenient place to dump items when you just don’t have time or can’t be bothered at the moment to place them in their appropriate location.

I do not have to remind you that the holidays are approaching and perhaps today is a perfect day to tackle the guest facilities and organize the area into one that is welcoming for your anticipated family and friends. If you set your mind to the task, enlist the assistance of a helper or two, it’ll be spic and span before you can utter the words “hey, presto.”

So grab your supplies, turn on your power cleaning music and set sail on your journey to clean-dom!

~Empty as much of the rooms paraphernalia as you can. The more clutter free the area the faster you will be able to spin around the room and create a peaceful paradise for your visitors.
~Strip the bed; consider taking down the curtains and laundering them for a fresh fall appeal.
~With a spring in your step wipe down the woodwork from top to bottom, polish the furniture and take Windex to the windows, mirrors and picture frames.
~Guests adore empty spaces in which to place their personal items so be sure to clear out a few drawers and spare some extra hangers in the closet for their pleasure.
~Vacuum the carpet and area rugs and wipe down any bare floor areas.
~As you get ready to set the stage, remember to donate useless clutter and create an environment that is peaceful, welcoming and serene for your anticipated callers.
~Prepare the bed; return needed items to the area and voila, your room is ready for your visitors.

You might want to consider placing fresh towels on the bed, flowers on the bedside table and a basket filled with convenient travel size items that your guests might have forgotten such as a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, soap, etc. Today’s organizational activity is one that produces grand feelings of accomplishment and your efforts will truly be appreciated when all is said and done. Your company is sure to feel welcome in their comforting, clean room.
