There are times when we feel like others are getting the best things in life. They get the promotions. They get the bigger house. They drive the nicer cars. Their children make good grades and appear to do the right things. We may wonder why we don’t have the nicer things in life especially since we are living like God wants us to.

We feel like we are doing what we should. We tell the truth. We go to church. We have our daily time with God. However, we can’t help but wonder why we struggle so much in some areas of our lives where others appear to have it much easier. We may even feel a little envious of what they have and how they are enjoying life and wonder when our time will come.

1 Timothy 6:7-9 “After all, we brought nothing with us when we came into the world, and we can’t take anything with us when we leave it. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. But people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction.”

We have to remember things are not always as they seem. We have always heard the saying, “The grass is greener on the other side.” Well, it just really looks greener. There is no one who is without some type of issues or problems. There is no one on easy street. We all have problems. Some of our problems are just more obvious than others.

We don’t know what is going on in other people’s lives who appear to have it made. There could be turmoil at home. There could be issues with money. There could be deceit or lies or some cover up they are trying to hide from others and they could just be putting on a front. We don’t know the entire situation. We only know what we can see.

It’s not really our business to know what all is going on in another persons’ life unless they come to us for help. It’s not really our business to worry about or be concerned if someone else has more than we do. It’s not really our business to dwell on the fact someone else is more talented or has more friends. When we begin to dwell on what others have, we stop thinking about all we have been blessed with.

It’s time we stopped trying to get ahead in life and wanting to keep up with the things everyone else has. It’s time we looked at what we have been given and used that for God’s glory. We will never be without problems so we should look at the things we do have and ask God how we can best serve Him and help others.

When we take our minds off of who has what and put our minds on using the gifts and talents we have, we will be able to use what God gave us to help others. When we stop trying to figure out when we will have the best things in life and when life will get easier, we can give our best to others to make their lives easier. It’s time we stop worrying about what we don’t have and using what we do have so we can make a difference.
