Exercising ‘purity’ in your daily interactions plays a vital role in ensuring happiness. You will begin to experience liberation in this current life – a freedom from the inner negative emotions of anger, pride, deceit and greed. These emotional adversaries, tormenting you with only pain and suffering from eternity, will begin to affect you less and less.

As a result, your dealings in worldly matters will begin to be of a higher level. Your interaction with people will be performed without expectations or personal gain resulting in happiness. During the unfolding of circumstances, you will remain untouched and unaffected. There will a feeling of lightness internally and a sense of detachment from the burden of problems, worries and anxiety.

The basis of purity stems from honesty. The greater the degree of honesty in your conduct, speech and thoughts, the purer you will become internally. The greater purity you have within you, the laws of nature are such that the more favourable the circumstances you will encounter. These circumstances will bring peace and happiness. Similarly, the more deceitful and dishonest you are the more likely you will suffer and be miserable. If, however dishonesty does occur and you feel this is wrong and you sincerely repent, then your path to purity will become enhanced.

How can I exercise the power of purity?

To attain purity, try to ensure your actions and your intentions are as follows:

• to not want to cause hurt to any living being to the slightest extent through your mind, speech and action.

• to conduct all your worldly transactions with utmost honesty and purity.

• to not want to cheat, steal or lie to gain personal advantage at someone else’s loss.

• to have your speech such that it is not harsh or hurtful but is pleasing, short, sweet and beneficial.

• to have no expectations of selfish gains for yourself.

Importantly and above all, you should try to ensure that there is a ‘purity of intent’. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan has shown how purity is a prerequisite to the ‘Knowledge of the Self’. He has explained: Moksha (ultimate liberation) cannot be attained until purity arises (internal). To attain purity, one has to realize ‘Who am I?’. By acquiring this knowledge of the Soul, your true form, you will understand the nature of the Soul which is eternally pure, the Self never alters under any conditions, circumstances or events - the Soul is always pure. Through understanding and application of spiritual science of ‘Who am l’ you will advance towards final Moksha.
