When we go into a home improvement store, we see aisles and aisles of purposeful things we can use for our homes. Some gadgets are small, some are large and some have funny looking shapes. Many of us don’t have a clue what all of these items are used for in the home but each of these things has a purpose. Some can’t work without the other. Some are useless unless they are hooked up to something else. Others need power or batteries to get going. Some items sit on the shelf for their entire existence without being used by man.

Looking around at all the animals and birds in our beautiful world, we see many types of creatures. They are God’s creatures, great and small. We can’t possibly know all their names and what function they play on earth. It could be some are just on earth for their beauty for us to behold. It could be some are here to take care of certain parts of our land. It could be some are here for our enjoyment. Many animals are never seen by man because of the remote places they live, but God knows where they are and He knows their purpose.

Everything on earth has a purpose. There are seasons that cause the weather to change. There are seasons that cause the things on the earth to die or change color. There are seasons that tell the animals where to fly or what to do to prepare for them families. Each season brings a new hope for man. We have spring which allows things to begin to grow and come to life. We have summer where can enjoy the weather and the things that have grown during the spring. We have fall to harvest and bring in the things we need for the winter. We have winter which allows things to die so they can be renewed again.

Each of us is wonderfully and perfectly made. We all have been created in the image of God. When we were created, God knew exactly what we needed to be doing on earth. However, if we aren’t careful we may end up sitting on a shelf. If we aren’t careful we may stay alone in the forest. If we aren’t careful we may miss out on an opportunity to grow, enjoy, harvest and die to be renewed again.

Jeremiah 29:11-13 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”

God knows the plans He has for us. He wants us to have purpose and to prosper. If we feel our lives are not purposeful and we feel that we are not prosperous, we need to put our focus on God. We need to put our focus on helping others. We need to forget our self and live for others. We can’t have purpose by being selfish. We can’t prosper without helping others. Let’s decide today to make a difference.
