It’s been a while since Oprah’s official last show. So I thought from time to time, I Oprahwould offer an Oprah fix- maybe a few stories, or a how-to, or some inspirational words.

I was reading about the Second Law of Thermodynamics. Did you know that on a molecular level atoms are constantly in a state of disorder? They are always reacting and colliding with other atoms to form molecules, splitting from other molecules, back to being atoms again, which according to this law, increases entropy, or the overall chaos of the universe.

I find that to be a pretty powerful statement. Because if the action of atoms affect the universe, then whatever we do, not only affects our personal life, but also affects the entire universe.

Imagine, everything we think, say or do is released into the cosmos and impacts the existing pool of energy.

This may answer the age old question, “Why do such “fill-in-the-blank” things happen in the world?” Answer: We collectively put it there!

And if we don’t like what we see in the world, how do we change it? As Mahatma Gandhi said, “As human beings, our greatness lies not so much in being able to remake the world – that is the myth of the atomic age – as in being able to remake ourselves.”

And yet, many of us do the reverse. We focus on changing our partners, our children, employees or co-workers or even the government in the hopes that once they change, we’ll be happy. But does it work? Not for the long term, because no one can impose change on anyone.

Even if we succeed for the short term, it doesn’t make us happy for very long. Why? Because we continue to view the world with our same flaws, anger, negativity, self-sabotaging behavior, etc.

Even if you marry the perfect person, make the perfect amount of money and weigh the perfect amount of pounds, you will still not find what you hoped for because your mind will still be seeping with negative stuff.

However, if you change yourself you change how you think, which changes how you feel, which changes how you view the world, which changes the actions you take, in ways you wouldn’t have when stuck in your old thought patterns. So, when you change yourself, you change the world.

As Mahatma Gandhi so simply put it: “You must be the change you want to see in the world.”

This is my personal mission…and this is the road Beyond Body Mind Spirit has helped people travel. We start with specific goals- stress management, weight loss, and anti-aging- and help you go as far as you want to go.
