I listened to a great talk the other day about the foundations of health, by Michael Mackintosh of Success Ultra Now. Michael has been on the leading edge of nutrition for over 10 years.

So I expected him to talk a lot about healthy foods, like raw foods, living foods and superfoods. But as he was talking about the most important factors of health, food was only the 4th most important.

Here's Michael's list of the most important factors of health:

1. Blissful Feelings
2. Breathing
3. Water
4. Food/Diet

Blissful Feelings
The most important thing is to get into a blissful and loving state of being first thing in the morning. When we get into that state, everything comes from a place of love and peace, and so everything we do has grace and power to it.

Breathing
After that, breathing is very important. We are breathing all of the time, so of course it's important that we breathe properly. If you find yourself sitting down a lot, hunched over and breathing shallowly, you're probably not feeling as great as you could be.

It's good to breathe deeply throughout the day. I like to set a timer on my computer to chime every hour, and it reminds me to focus on my breath and make sure I'm breathing deeply.

Water
Our bodies are made up of over 70% water, so it makes sense that we need to drink quality water if we want to feel our best. There's a lot of information out there about water, but most people agree that spring water is the best water available.

Also, get this: Water responds to your intentions. If you concentrate on loving intentions toward your water before you drink it, or while you're drinking it, the water is said to become healthier for you. Check out Masuro Emoto's work for more about this.

Food/Diet
Of course it's good to eat lots of fruits and veggies and other healthy foods, but your feelings around food are important too. No matter what you eat, just make sure to allow yourself to eat it without guilt or shame.

If you start to feel guilty about something you are eating, you have two choices: Stop eating it, or just stop feeling guilty about it. :)
