Would you class yourself with having a low self-esteem? Do you find yourself beating yourself up over something negative that happened in your life over and over again?
You would be surprised to see how simple phrases such as “no one loves me” and “I’m so fat” can take the happiness out of many people’s lives.
Fortunately enough, this does not have to be permanent. Making the correct use of positive affirmations can see you have a drastic change in life. Affirmations are mainly aimed at positives rather than negatives.
Making use of certain techniques properly will ensure that you have a positive vibe about yourself and life, which will be noticeable by others.
Below are some important ways that positive affirmations can make a change in your life:
1. Make sure that all your affirmations are in the present tense. You want all your statements to be in the present tenses such as “I have” and “I am”. Stop the habit of saying things like “I will”.
• Examples of statements that you can say are like “I have a great body” or “I’m very intelligent”.
• Make sure that the statements you choose are encouraging and positive as these will have a huge role on your behavior.
2. Address yourself by name when expressing your affirmations. It may sound quite hard to believe but using your name in affirmations will make a huge difference. Say things like “I, Mark Foo, am very intelligent”.
• A person’s name is one of the sweetest sound to that individual, so your name will help your subconscious to process your affirmations more effectively.
3. Don’t overload yourself. Start with one or two affirmations. Even though we all have many great things about us, you do not want to overwhelm yourself.
• For example, how do you feel when someone you meet keeps singing your praises? After the first two or three compliments, you’ll doubt the person’s sincerity. This applies to practicing many affirmations at the same time.
• Start off with one or two and then gradually add on more when your subconscious allows you to do so.
4. Practice over and over. Even though you would expect your affirmations to be in your mind most of the time, it is important that you keep repeating them to yourself once in the morning and another time before going to sleep at night. Only repetitions will affix the affirmations in your subconscious.
• It is like anything really, the more you study or recite in this case, the more you will see the change.
5. If you can’t think of a few affirmations yourself, don’t worry. There are many books and websites that you can borrow affirmations to use. These are great places to start off with.
• Making sure you do not let such a small thing of not being able to make your own affirmations hold you back from changing your life.
It is important to get rid of low self-esteem as it holds you back from things that you deserve in life. Be positive and ambitious and sticking to your daily affirmation routine will help ensure you achieve this.
