‘Midas Touch’ and ‘Golden Egg Goose’ - for sure, we all have learnt these fables in school or have heard from our grandparents as a bed-time story with the moral stating ‘Greed is the root of all evil’. Similarly, the idiom ‘Leave and Live’ must have visited us in some way too. But the paradox of the Kalyug Era is, we just hear and not heed, we see the sight but have no insight, we flow with dysfunction, even with malfunction but have no compunction. Our fidelity has drained to morbidity and we are blinded and so obsessed with ‘me’, that beyond me, we cannot see or desire.

Humans are the only living creatures that ‘desire’ and it is not wrong to desire, that is the only reason perhaps that humans exclusively govern this planet and no other animal does. Having a desire makes one enthusiastic and progressive. It is the Desire which made paleozoic ‘Stone-Age Man’ to current cenozoic ‘Moon-Mars Man’.

But when this desire catches fire, that's when the hazardous consequences of ‘Greed’ erupt as an unquenchable lava within. It not only dissolves the good virtues of individuals, but also surrounds one with thick volcanic ash of ‘Vices’. Greed, once crept in, knows no limit and summit, it turns so strong that it transforms into a sinking sand, drowning the prey till the extent that ‘more becomes less’ and ‘I-Me-Mine becomes the only life line’. Eventually, the moment arises where both the mind and the senses are annexed by an indestructible grid of Greed and by hook or crook one wants to get the desires fulfilled. If death beds could talk, they would certainly confirm that ‘Greed was the only Character Weed’ that didn't recede a bit in deceased. Even death, if personified, would have one desire to have NO desire.

Yet, desire is easy to control, it is in the budding state but Greed is extremely challenging due to its multitudinous. Greed is an expert in metamorphosis, it can manifest in various forms such as Greed for Money, Success, Status, Victory and even Possessions. Greed creeps in to the limits of obsession. One’s self-centeredness takes toll on the family and friends till the extent that void in every relationship arises, crippling both psychology and sociology of one’s life.

Is there any way to get a protective shield against this unending Greed?
Thankfully, many religious rules, customs, festivals or dictums are set for this purpose only, yet Greed is too cunning to breed in.

So how can a Greedy person have a normal life back? Is there some miracle to change the orientation of Greed to Normalcy? Does this even sound feasible and achievable?
Fortunately, we are blessed to have a real ‘Midas Touch’, permanent, personal as well as customized, a truly divine, supernatural magic, most basic yet cosmic solution to prevent this treacherous ‘Greed Weed’ from infesting our beautiful life-garden. This is via Akram Vigyan, a step-less path to self-realization, divinely designed and devised by the great spiritual maestro and the moksha scientist Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan aka A.M. Patel (Dadashri) a simple family man, enlightened through Self-Realization. So, let us all get ‘Contented’, and not breed the Greed and bleed with it, instead, learn to precede and supercede it and then completely secede it with the verbatim dialects of our beloved Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan through his divine ‘Akram pearls to supple’!

Let Akram Lead to Discern the Greed :

Greed is to become perpetually engrossed in anything that becomes dear to you. Greed is the reason why you find No Satisfaction even after you acquire it. A Greedy person is preoccupied with his Greed from the moment he wakes up until he goes to bed at night. That is called Greed.

When does the 'tuber of greed' sprout?
When one has saved ninety-nine!

Everyone has the same quota in the world. But the Greedy people take an additional quota and some other people do not even get their share. The conduct that results from Greed is what leads a human into an animal life form.

Greed to Contentment only through Gnani’s Clement:

By having adverse internal meditation, harming one's own self and others, people lose their right to be born as humans again. A greedy person becomes greedy in every life because he likes Greed.

Contentment is the opposite of Greed. When the desire to indulge in something does not arise again, that is called trupti (contentment). This contentment comes from an inner understanding carried over from the past life. This understanding results in his being content and not running after money. Without this understanding, Greed remains. Contentment is attained through knowledge and worldly experience. It happens naturally and is directly proportional to the level of one’s knowledge. It is not something that will happen by doing anything. It is an effect, a result.

There are two definite ways to break Greed:

1. One is when Gnani Purush (the Enlightened One) breaks it through the power of his speech.

2. And the other is when a Greedy person incurs a heavy loss; at that time he will say that 'I am not going to do anything anymore. I will make do with what I have.'

For how long does the impure consciousness exist?
It exists as long as one has a Greed-laden temptation that, ‘There is happiness in this, there is happiness in that.’ Once it experiences the happiness of its own home (i.e. the Pure Soul which is our real Self), it will not venture outside. Greed dissolves [permanently] only after attaining Self-realization.

Thus, to leave greediness, the sure way is Self-Realization. So, let’s have a strong desire to meet the Enlightened One, with whose grace, we can attain Self-Realization.

Author's Bio:

Ambalal M. Patel was a civil contractor by profession. In June 1958, spontaneous Self-Realization occurred within Ambalal M. Patel. From this point on, Ambalal became a Gnani Purush, and the Lord that manifest within him became known as Dada Bhagwan. A Gnani Purush is One who has realized the Self and is able help others do the same. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan used to go from town to town and country-to-country to give satsang (spiritual discourse) and impart the knowledge of the Self, as well as knowledge of harmonious worldly interactions to everyone who came to meet him. This spiritual science, known as Akram Vignan, is the step-less path to Self-realization.
