Are we controlling our lives? The obvious answer which most of us will give is a Yes. “I have a life with a beautiful and caring family and a good job which helps me earn enough to support me. “ But the question again is, are we really controlling our lives? If yes, then why are we scared! Most of us live in the illusion that we control our lives, but this isn’t entirely true. Yeah, you can decide what to have for breakfast, or what to wear, about your basic need and all those little things, but as soon as you step out into the bigger scenario of the world, you are pretty much at the mercy of everyone else around you. I know this is kind of glum outlook of things, but that’s exactly what happens and all we can do is hope, yes hope that if people around you are having a bad day, they wouldn’t decide to take it on you.
Take a look around you for example, You worked by day and toiled by night to finish your project on time, but when you submit it your boss snaps back at you for some silly reason. Now just because he was having a bad day, he spoils even yours. And what do you do in return, you take it on your juniors, go back home and finish it on your family. There are numerous of such examples. Many accidents take place every day because either the driver was drunk or he was out of his mind. Walking even a lonely street doesn’t feel safe; we keep turning around to check if we are being stalked by someone.
So where this does leads us, nowhere! Since we cannot control other lives, we cannot ours isn’t it? All we can do at the end of the day is hope, because hope is a very precious sentiment given to human genre. We hope that our day goes good, we hope that our loved ones are safe and happy, We worry about a lot of other things, but what eventually saves us lasting in this uncontrollable world is hope. So lets not forget that we are never lost, because our life can change any moment and all you need to do is hope, Hope for a better present, for a better future and nonetheless for a better World.
This message is beautifully conveyed by Emily Dickinson.
"Hope" is the thing with feathers—
That perches in the soul—
And sings the tune without the words—
And never stops—at all—
And sweetest—in the Gale—is heard—
And sore must be the storm—
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm—
I've heard it in the chillest land—
And on the strangest Sea—
Yet, never, in Extremity,
It asked a crumb—of Me.
