Having a baby is the most important thing you will ever do in your lifetime. For most people, finding out they are pregnant is a magical moment; the moment that your journey to motherhood begins. Every pregnancy is different as is every labour, and your baby’s first months in the world are precious first moments that you will never want to forget.

Unfortunately most Mothers are cursed with something we call “baby-brain” this causes us to do many things we wouldn’t ordinarily do; such as leaving the hot coffee pot in the freezer, or forgetting simple things like brushing our teeth. Because of this “baby-brain” and your new little whirlwind of activity, the first months go by like a blur, just like your pregnancy. Capturing those first memories, starting with a pregnancy calendar and graduating to detailed baby books or albums will allow you to look back to when the excitement began, and also reminisce with your children on those magical first months.

Pregnancy Calendar
Purchasing a Pregnancy Calendar is a wonderful idea to preserve those special days at the start of your child’s existence. Your pregnancy will be filled with excitement, anticipation and probably some discomfort. But, once your special little one pops out, you will look back on your pregnancy calendar with a chuckle and be glad you recorded your thoughts and special moments.

Personalized Baby Blankets
A Baby Blanket can be an excellent way to commemorate your child’s birth. Baby blankets can be specially ordered with your child’s name, date of birth, weight, etc. Or you can purchase one and have it personalized afterwards. Having a friend or relative embroider a special message is a lovely keepsake that you and your child will always cherish.

Baby Books
Baby Books fantastic keepsake items. You can fill them with page upon page of words, stories, pictures and thoughts about all of your child’s beginning months. There are different styles of baby books available; some more detailed than others. Choose one that fits with your personality and one that has the option to add extra little details, like your tot’s hand and foot prints (a baby safe ink pad is required).

Photo Albums, Brag Books and Scrapbooks
You will definitely want to snap as many pictures as possible during these first months! Every movement and new noise or outfit will make you want to grab your camera and click away. Using photo albums and brag books to store your pictures is a great way to organize and keep your new pictures out of harm’s way. Be sure to look for photo albums that have areas to write. Scrapbooks are also wonderful ideas, but require much more work and dedication. If you are a crafty person who loves the originality of a scrapbook, this is definitely the way to go. If not, photo albums and brag books are the way to go.

Keepsake Boxes
A Keepsake Box is like a treasure chest of first memories. Your child’s hospital bracelet, birth certificate, a newborn-sized diaper (unused), first pair of Robeez or baby booties, can all be stored in this wonderful little box. All of the first little items that you don’t want to lose can be stored here for your child to look at when she or he is older and curious about what it was like to be a baby.

So to heck with baby brain! You can successfully capture all of the moments you have always dreamed of for your new baby and all of the moments you never dreamed were possible.
