Don't Fight The Child Support Battle Alone

Single parents worldwide are unfortunately dealing with many of the same situations regarding late child support payments from absent parents. The bad news is that government agencies are often of little-to-no assistance. Raising a child alone can become expensive, especially when a parent has no help from anyone else. Making sure that the child support payments you are owed are enforced and captured doesn't have to be an impossible mission.

Fortunately, there are agencies available for single parents who are owed child support. Before one can become eligible, they have to be able to meet the standard requirements which include that the absent parent is at least $5,000 behind, the single primary parent does not receive TANF or any other assistance programs provided by the government, and that there is a current court order set into place stating that child support payments are due.

Oftentimes single parents feel as though they are not able to receive child support due to various factors such as their child's age as well as if they already have a case opened with another agency. Fortunately, help is still available regardless of age or whether or not another case is opened. One of the first things you will have to do before contacting outside additional help is to obtain a copy of your court order if you do not already have one. Simply contact a support collecting agency and get started. There is also no need to worry about the cost of services available. The majority of services do not get paid unless you do, and usually only deduct %30 percent from what is owed to you for use and success of their services. There are plenty of parents who have given up on the battle of collecting the money that is owed to their child for support because the non-custodial parent is nowhere to be found. Certain support agencies will work to locate the missing parent and ensure that the money is paid.

In most cases, the primary single parent won't have to do anything but simply fill out a few forms and provide as much information about the absent parent as possible. The process is meant to be non-stressful and uncomplicated. Fortunately, the majority of parents won't have to appear in court, and if so, are provided with an attorney to help assist in the process. In addition, if you are owed spousal support, most support collectors are also able to assist with that process as well. It is important to also bare in mind that these places are very private about matters of confidentiality. There are no doubts that there are some very unprofessional agencies out there that will give out your information without a second thought. However, once you find the appropriate help, you don't have to worry about your privacy being exposed.

Overdue child support will not be the only funds collected in the case of an absents, non-paying parent. Certain professional agencies will also work to have payments reinforced, especially when the child is under the age of 18. It's not completely impossible to get your child support restarted, or even to obtain all the missing money that is owed to you. As you can see, you don't have to do it alone.
