Hello and welcome, it's a pleasure to connect with you. I'm guessing that you are thinking that there must be more to life than this but you don't really know where to start and maybe even doubt if it's possible? Maybe you think there's not a lot of point as things never turn out right for you? You perhaps even beleive that it's your destiny to not become successful? Are you tired of watching other people enjoying success and wish that you could be lucky too? Do you want to stop struggling and start living?
Well, there is a way to be successful and I can show you how. First of all let's establish a few basic points. I'll start by asking you another question. By the way, please be honest with yourself at all times. You really need to understand yourself first and where you are right now.
Your attitude to life:
1. Do you believe that life just happens to you and that you have no control?
If you answered Yes and you believe that you have no choice because there is a grand plan for you so it doesn't really matter what you do then you live your life in victim mode. You just allow stuff to happen, complaining about your lot in life or perhaps just accepting that this is how it is and you have no choice. Do you constantly think that things will get better when something else changes? For example, I'll feel happy when I lose weight. I'll be happier when I get more money. I'll stop being miserable as soon as I move house. I'll stop feeling upset when he apologises.
2. Do you think that you are responsible for everything that has happened in your life?
The truly successful people believe exactly that. They know that the results that they get in life are due to the decisions and action they have taken. No-one else is responsible. Yes other people influence you however, even then it is still your decision. If you decide to follow someone elses advice it is you who is responsible for the outcome not the person giving the advice, even though it's easy to blame them. Obviously there are many things outside your control that happen and wil affect your life, such as bereavement, natural disasters, the weather and other people's behaviour. With these experiences it is about how you respond or react and what you decide to do as a result. People who are successful know what sort of lifestyle they want and go and get it by making decisions that are linked to what's important to them!
Creating the life that you want begins with you. If things are not how you want them to be then the sooner that you accept that you are responsible for where you are in life then the sooner you can get the life that you want. It's not easy to accept this at first is it? However, you have created the life that you have and have attracted the people and things that you have around you. If things are not very good for you right now then I am sure that you will be feeling uncomfortable at that thought. I know I did! You may even be feeling resistant to the suggestion? Maybe you think this is impossible. There are some things that happen that are hard to accept that you played a part in the creation. Clearly, you have no control over the behaviour of other people, however, you can control how you react to what happens and the decisions that you make. It is decisions that you make based on poor values and limiting beliefs that create the poor results that you get. Particularly if those decisions are made when you are feeling negative about yourself.
First steps to becoming successful
Step 1 - Awareness and acceptance of this approach to life is the first step in making phenomenal changes in you and your life. Accept that you are who you are as a result of your experiences in life so far. Accept also that the past does not have to equal the future.
Step 2 - Take responsibility - commit to being the change that you want to be. Believe that you can.
Step 3 - Know what you want.
Knowing what you want is another key to success. For some people this is a struggle. Most people know what they don't want, which is great however, if you focus on what you don't want then that is what will show up in your life. It's vital to identify what you do want and then focus on that. Imagine it in all it's delightful details.
Step 4 - How will you know that you have got to where you want to be?
It's important to know when you have achieved what you set out to achieve. Stephen Covey in his '7 Habits of Highly Sucessful People' calls this 'Begin with the end in Mind'. At the start visualise what you want to achieve. If it's to get fit and healthy then imagine how you will look and feel, what clothes will you be wearing, what will people be saying to you? If you want to get a new job or start a business then imagine what you will be doing. What sort of people will you be working with, how many hours, where etc etc. I'm sure you get the picture!
Additional questions to help move you forward to become successful
What does succcess mean to you? What needs to happen for you to be successful? How do you know that you are not already successful?
What's stopping you? The answers to these questions will start to give you and idea of what action you need to take.
Write those ideas down now and then decide what you are going to do and by when.
Self-esteem levels
Often people who have lived their lives believing that they have no choice also have low self-esteem and low confidence. Thankfully building self-esteem and confidence is also easy to do:
Here's an activity for you to boost your self-esteem:
1. Give yourself a self-esteem rating from 1 to 10 with one being low and 10 high. Awareness of how you feel about yourself is a good starting point to make changes.
2. Write down 10 things you like about yourself. Get over your initial resistance to this and allow yourself to feel good about yourself.
3. Write down all the things you dislike about yourself.
Now look at some of the things on the list of dislikes and decide how you can improve them. Aim to remove them all.
Being successful starts with you. You are the only person who can make that happen so stop waiting for someone else to do it for you and be happy with who and where you are in life right now. The thoughts you have today will create your future, so far better to have good thoughts.
Remember you get what you focus on, so if you want to create a future where you are negative, life's a struggle, too many challenges then go ahead and focus on it. I know what thoughts I prefer to have.
It's your choice.
Enjoy the process of life.
