By No Other Means

When we are facing situations we feel seem out of our control and we have tried and tried to figure out how to handle them, we tend to go to an alternative means to search for a solution. We may feel as if we have lost hope and there is nothing left but drastic measures. We may feel there is no one else to turn to so we have to handle things ourselves. We may feel embarrassed about our situation and afraid to talk with someone else so we look for ways to fix things and cover up the issue at hand.

Sometimes the situation starts out as a simple problem but we allow it to build by ignoring it. Sometimes the situation is one that could be easily remedied but we continue to put off solving it until it grows so large we can no longer control it. Sometimes the situation gets so big it controls our thoughts day in and day out so we are no longer thinking about anything else.

We begin to search for answers that may seem like easy fixes but we soon find they are only means to cover up or temporarily take care of the situation. We may eventually go to others for help and get the relief we need; however, there may be a deeper issue we need to look at. There may be something deeper inside of us that should be handled by no other means but God.

Hebrews 4:16 “So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”

We see story after story in the Bible where men and women have gone their own way trying to solve a problem when God was right there ready to help them. We see people in our lives who are looking for solutions in a bottle, in a bank or in a pill. There is no other means to our fix our problems other than God. We don’t have the wisdom He has. We don’t have the full story He has. We can’t see in the future as He does.

God is all we need to handle all of our problems, big and small. When we go to Him in the beginning when we first see there is an issue and ask for His guidance, He will help us through it. When we go to Him, He will take away our worries. He can keep us from having to struggle with a solution so we can stay focused on His work.

We can be even more disciplined about the things we do before we do them. We can make a conscious effort to stay away from the things of the world and decide not to go near temptation. We can do this before we get in situations that get out of our control so quickly. We can go to God now and ask Him to help us make the right decisions daily to do the right things so we aren’t in situations where we feel we have no control.

When we go to God in all situations and allow His hand to work in our lives, we find we need no other means except for God to handle our fears and our worries. We find we can allow God to work in our lives to take care of our problems and work in our hearts to make a decision to stay out of situation where we may be tempted. When we allow God’s hand to work in our lives, we can make a difference in the lives of others.
