There are times in our lives we get tired of things. We get physically wore out or mentally drained. Sometimes we just get bored and want to move on to something else. It’s just natural for things to get boring or monotonous and we feel the need to do something different. We may want to take a detour in life going somewhere else we feel may be more interesting and exciting.

Other times we grow tired of people. We get into a routine at work or at home and we feel the “spice” in life has left us. We feel as if the other person doesn’t seem to care as much or put as much effort into things they did in the beginning of the relationship. We may be tempted to seek out someone new and exciting so we can get the attention we feel we need.

It is important that we plan for those times we want to take a detour in life. It is important that we are ready for when things at work or home get into a rut. It is important that we know what we are going to do to make things more interesting and decide not to wait on someone else to make a change.

Proverbs 16:17 “The path of the virtuous leads away from evil; whoever follows that path is safe.”

If we wait on another person to make something more exciting in our lives, we may be disappointed. We can’t depend on others to make us happy or keep us interested in life. We need God. God can give us all we need to stay interested in our lives. We can put our hope and trust in Him to give us the right things to do to make our work and home lives more interesting.

We need to accept the things which are routines in our lives knowing there are certain things we have to do and certain people we have to live with. Sometimes when we feel we need to make a change, God may want us to just continue on as we have been and wait. We can go to God to help us as we deal with being tempted to make a change. He can give us a new look on life and He can keep us motivated to do the right things.

We should be sure we don’t grow so stale with our routines so we don’t search for earthly ways to find more excitement. We can grow stale after a few years, months or even in a day. We can begin a day feeling focused and excited and then begin to lose momentum. We can begin the day on fire for God and then get sidetracked with life and get off track. We can begin the day with high hopes and ambition and end the day taking the wrong turn.

God knows we will grow tired and weary. God knows we will be tempted to get off track in our lives. God knows we will grow stale with some of the routines in our lives and try other things to make them more interesting. That is why we need to go to Him for guidance so we will be ready when we feel like doing something we shouldn’t do. That is why we need to be sure the things we do are what God wants us to do.

There will be times we will grow tired and there will be times when we will get bored or feel we are in a rut. When we plan and prepare for those situations ahead of time and go to God for guidance, we will be preparing ourselves to do what God wants rather than be tempted to find excitement from the world. When we plan ahead for those detours in life, we will be better able to stay focused and to make a difference.

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.”
