A Letter to the Friend that I have never Seen

I just want to take this time and opportunity to write this article to the friend that I have never seen. One thing about life is that we can live for all of our life and think that we don’t have any friends but regardless of who you are you do have one friend that you have not seen.

Thank you so much for protecting me over the years, even when I didn’t know that you were there. I am still standing here today only because you have been there for me. Now I trust you more because you have brought me through so much. I have learned to trust you with all things that pertain to my life.

I think about the time that I fainted while driving home and woke up the next morning parked outside of my house. I also think about the time that you told me to relax and swim when I was about to drown. Thank you so very much for that and for all of the other incidents which are too many to think about at this time such as when I would have been stomped in the head by a horse except that you told me to roll as soon as I hit the ground.

Thanks for the warning years ago when someone slipped a drug into my drink. I didn’t heed your voice at first but you finally got me to listen and stop drinking it. It was bad enough with the little bit that I drank but I hate to think about what would have happened had I drank it all.

Thank you for leading me through the New Mexico desert that time when I was lost and for sending the people out to where I was in a jeep at five in the morning. I don’t know how they were able to find me in that thousands of square miles of desert. They never would have found me if you hadn’t directed their path. They were just as surprised to see me because no one knew that I was lost at that time.

We won’t mention when you saved me from that fourteen foot alligator or the water moccasin that I didn’t even see.

I owe you my life many times over and there is no way that I could possibly repay you for all that you have done for me. I don’t have anything that I can give you except my thanks and I give it to you with pure undying gratitude. I owe you my life many times over. You have continued to stick with me through the years although I have seldom been there for you. You have never complained about my faults, and fallacies. You have never even mentioned the fact that I neglect your friendship often and don’t even communicate with you as I should. Although you are my life partner I have the habit of not even consulting with you until I have already messed things up.

Most of the people who read this article will figure out who you are but some of them will never get it. One thing that I can say for sure is that all of my extended family know you and they will immediately recognize who you are because you have done so much for all of us. You are life itself because as far as we are concerned there is no other life apart from you. Whenever I mention your name at family gatherings all of the family members clap and smile so you are loved by us even though we are not capable of loving you the same with the love that you show us.
