Recently I took advantage of the lovely weather and visited a park. I packed up my two dogs to explore one of the hiking trails. The sun was shining, the air was unseasonably warm and I was content. I chose a path, one I had not walked before.
My dogs were happy, sniffing every blade of grass. I, however, started noticing something. Since winter had not arrived, it was difficult to distinguish the difference between the path and the forest floor. The brown leaves were interspersed with brown and green blades of grass. Anxiety started building in my chest as I began wondering if I really was on the path or if I was lost in the woods. I began to worry and started looking for any sign that I was heading in the right direction. The trees seemed to look the same, and the ground had the same colors. I began panicking until something caught my eye. Ahead, there were three, brown pieces of wood that appeared to be set up like a couple of steps. The wood was the same color of the trees, but they were obviously cut in perfect rectangles. They were embedded in the ground, but I knew that the park purposely placed them there. With a sigh of relief, we climbed the stairs and I knew I was on the ‘right’ path.
In life we sometimes wonder if we are on the ‘right’ path. We wonder if our career is really the best one suited for us or the person we are dating is really the best match. Just as I was looking for a sign in the park to know if I was on the hiking path, I believe Angels provide us signs, hidden in our daily lives, to encourage us. These signs are often blended into the environment, as the steps were in the park, yet by examining them closely, you can see that these signs were placed purposely by Another Source. It is with this support that we can have a sense of peace as we try out different paths in the forest of life.
