As a business success coach and speaker, I listen to audio cassettes, watch videos, read books and go to workshops all in order to learn how people can improve their possibility for achieving success. When I hear the stories of successful people, I look for the "gold nugget" that has universal application.

Success, like any great novel is not written overnight. There is always a first draft, a second, and, eventually, a final manuscript. Then the real story begins, getting the great novel published. Successful people are often too busy being successful to stop and share their secrets. Failure however, has plenty of time to demand your ear. When you meet success, instead of asking for a story, watch and learn. Observing success is your best teacher.

As a long time student of success, I am convinced that regardless of your profession - whether you are a street vendor, an environmental consultant, a hat designer or a professional organizer - you are responsible for the path you choose to follow. Success will come to you in direct proportion to the investment you make in embracing success.

Passion - Create a burning desire to realize that which you can see in your mind. You have to want what you want so much you have no choice but to make it happen.

Commitment - Make an agreement with yourself to realize your goal. An agreement so strong that no obstacle, no criticism, and no absence of favorable results will deter you away from moving in the direction of your goal. Keep your commitment to yourself no matter what obstacles stand in your way.

Plan - Create a written plan of action, read it everyday, and adjust it as needed.

Persistence- Consistently follow your plan without allowing rejection, competition or disappointment to interfere with your progress. Focus on repeated positive action over and over. Do not stop till you get what you want.

Hard work- Long hours, working smart and taking risks are all part of moving closer to your goals. If you are consistent, your efforts will pay off.

Faith - You have to believe in yourself and your ability to make things happen. Believe that forces will come together to support you in achieving your success. Faith creates miracles. You create your success.
