“I ask God every day for answers. But I never seem to get them.” I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard new students and clients tell me those exact words. They want guidance but don’t know how to get it. Then I give them a few simple tools that I’m about to share with you and the next thing I know they are either laughing, crying, or doing both, thrilled to have finally gotten some answers.

The answers you seek are at your disposal. The key is to know how to receive them. I invite you to follow these few easy steps and allow the miracles to unfold!

The first step is to give yourself PERMISSION to receive. You are the creator of your life and if you aren’t receiving the answers you need, it’s because you have a limiting belief that tells you someone else is in control. No one else is in control of you getting the guidance you need. You don’t have to perform to get that kind of help. All you have to do is say “Yes!” to yourself. I invite you to create a quiet space, sit down and say, “Yes, God. I now give myself permission to receive your loving guidance.”

The second step is to get grounded and OPEN UP and ALLOW the messages to come in. Visualize the crown of your head opening up like a camera lens. Breathe. Imagine a beautiful golden light pouring down from the universe into the crown of your head, flooding your body, and draining out the palms of your hands and the balls of your feet. You are washing away all fear and negativity. Sit in this space for a moment and let all uncertainty go. KNOW that you will receive the answer you seek.

The next step is to ASK for what you need. There are several options on how you go about doing this. The first is to sit quietly, ask, and allow the answers to come to you by simply listening. Listening seems to be the hardest avenue for many people, due to the fact that they can’t get their minds to slow down. Active meditation, on the other hand, allows your mind to participate and is the option I prefer to teach. It’s the one that I find helps the most people.

My favorite active meditation is to write with my “other” hand. Your “other” hand is your less-dominant hand, the one you don’t normally write with. After giving yourself permission to receive and getting grounded and open, write all of your thoughts and feelings with your normal writing hand. This is your dominant hand. Ask your question with this hand and then when you’re ready to receive an answer, switch your pen to the “other” hand. For the majority of people, your dominant hand takes you to your left brain. This is where you tend to think too much. The “other” hand takes you to the right side of your brain and opens you up to your intuition and the ability to receive guidance.

Who you write to is up to you. I often write to God, my guardian angels, a loved one on the other side, or my inner child. It just depends on who I feel I want to talk to. Please know that as you start this, your writing will look like chicken scratch. Let go of the old beliefs about grammar and writing with good penmanship. This is about enjoying a creative flow! Go back and forth between your hands as many times as needed to have your questions answered.

I love writing with my other hand and have found it to be an avenue for great clarity. The other active meditation I love is visualization. I go through the process again of opening up to receive and then visualize whoever it is I want to talk to. For me, I often ask for guidance from Christ or the Archangel Micheal. If I’m trying to understand what’s going on inside of me I tend to talk with little Terri, the 5-year-old little girl inside of me. She helps me understand the feelings that I’m going through and helps me see the negative beliefs that I’m holding onto.

There are two points to remember when doing any kind of meditation. One is to know that the universe is there to support you, and the other is to stay open. When you find yourself in fear, not getting answers, and holding on so tightly that you can’t let go, breathe again. Then check in with the crown of your head to make sure it is open. As an intuitive, when I check people’s energy to see what’s going on, every single time I see someone stuck and in fear, their crowns are shut down. Remember, all you have to do to open it is to visualize a camera lens sitting on the top of your head and imagine it opening up to the universe. Check in with your crown ten times a day if that will help you stay open.

Sometimes all that is really needed to find the clarity you desire is to help your spirit get into a positive flow. Ask yourself how to best do this. And then do it. You may simply need to let go by moving forward with your day. Or maybe you need to take a walk or soak in the bath. Stay in awareness. And right when you least expect it, you’ll have an “AHA” moment. Your answer may come through a conversation, in a book or on the radio. Just know that the universe is waiting to guide you if you’ll just stay open to receive the messages.
