In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, a life can end. And when that time comes, how will others remember us? Did we reach for the stars, or did we simply live each day as we did the day before. What disturbs me the most about many people is the way in which they view themselves. How you view yourself, right now, is directly related to what direction your life is going.
Too many people believe they are not capable of great things, that extraordinary things happen to extraordinary people, to others. If you fall into this category of hopeless people, drudging through each day, following a path in which they were told to take, waking each morning and dragging themselves to a job they hate, then let me show you a better way.
Here is something that we all know but never seem to get: If you do not wake each morning with a tremendous desire to get started, then you are not looking forward to the day ahead. And you are certainly not living the Law of Attraction. Can you think of a day that you so eagerly looked forward to, one in which you were so excited that you could hardly sleep the night before? Okay, you looked forward to Christmas day as a child, but I am talking about in your adulthood. We all have had those excited feelings, but why can’t we have them everyday?
This evening, as the sun drops below the horizon, I want each of you to look at that sunset as a moment when this day, and everything within it, including yourself and your failures and accomplishments, is gone forever. Tomorrow will bring a new day, a day in which you can become whatever person you want to be.
Remember, you watched your yesterday slip off into oblivion, so why pretend it still exists and that you are the same person you were yesterday? If yesterday no longer exists, then neither do you. Today, you will determine who exactly you are for this day.
If you will commit yourself to the above exercise, to becoming the person you want to be, then you will achieve greatness. However you choose to define greatness is up to you, but know that it awaits.
Right now, I exist in your world, and you exist in mine. We see each other, but we are not living the same experience. This is hard for many to understand, but it is true. Look around yourself, at this very moment, and know that everything you see is yours. You are the creator of all that you see and experience. I know, because this is what I saw in my near-death experience, as well as what I have observed in my own life.
Many people who have achieved greatness don’t even know how they did it. But the common denominator among such people is their willingness to believe, to reach for something that others told them was out of reach. They did not accept their ordinary situation or circumstances. They did not drown themselves in self-pity. They simply chose to go after something they really wanted. And you can, too.
It doesn’t matter your social status, nor your level of education. Everyone starts somewhere, and considering yesterday no longer exists, today is the first day of the rest of your life. Good things do not happen to other people, they are created by other people.
Today, you are here on this big blue marble we call earth. One day, very soon, you will move on and experience what I experienced as I was lying on the floor that day. At that very moment, you will become that child who couldn’t sleep on Christmas Eve. What awaits you is beyond your wildest dreams. I know, because I have seen it. And I believe I am here today to share it with you, to inspire you to look beyond who you were to the person you are capable of becoming.
As I mentioned, you are in your world. I am in mine. Though our worlds are meshed together, we do not determine another’s destiny. We each control what we experience in life, designers of our own reality. If there is something you desire, then know that it is yours. Go after it with all your heart, with every ounce of energy inside. Right now, you may feel as though you have been left behind, but that is all about to change.
So, see the prize, grit your teeth, and then go for it. This is your opportunity to rise from the ashes and grab glory. No matter your past, what you do today, from this moment on, is how you will be remembered. Think about it.
As the sun sets this evening, say goodbye to yourself because you will never see that person again. And when you awake in the morning, say hello to the person then believe you are. Go ahead, grab glory.
Tim Thacker is one of the world's foremost authorities on the Law of Attraction. His experiments with this universal law have sparked fierce debate among the religious and scientific communitites.
