My name is Vincent Williams and I am labled on this site as a Travel expert. I am by no means an expert but I do love to travel and experience the different cultures outside our own imaginary borders.
I love to go and imerse myself in the local culture and experience life as a local not the "tourist".
"Life is a journey, not a destination"
Every since I can remember I have loved to travel. I did not get to do much as a young teen due to my humble beginnings in Charlotte NC. Mom raised me alone and there just wasn't enough money for vacations. We mostly went to the mountains or the beach locally but the few trips to Florida that I do remember were the best memories growing up. Orlando and Bush Gardens were my dream vacations growing up.
As I got older I went off to college in Tennessee and began driving myself to some of the places that I only dreamed of going in my teens. The trips allowed me to get comfortable venturing out on a limited budget. I traveled mostly up and down the East coast of the US from Pennsylvainia to Florida.
I joined the Navy in 1988 and took my first airplane ride to San Diego. I had never been further than Memphis before then so I was excited to be going all the way to the West Coast (even though it was for Bootcamp!)
During my 4 years of active service I traveled quite often outside of the US. I traveled around South America and through the Panama Canal several times. I have been to the Baltic Sea and traveled through Scottland, England, Denmark and Norway.
I was discharged from the Navy in 1992 but I never lost that wonder-bug. I took my first official overseas vacation in 1994 to Moorea, Tahiti. I was hooked! I repeated my trip to Tahiti again in 1996.
I love the US and all that it offers but there is nothing like international travel. I believe that in order to understand and function in a world society one must get out and experience the world.
Since my first vacation to Tahiti in 1994 I have included such places as Belize, Costa Rica, Mexico, Paris France and Canada to my list of destinations traveled.
I am by no means a travel agent or expert but my love of adventure and my willingness to put myself out there and experience the many cultures that exist outside of our imaginary borders more than qualify me share them with anyone who ask.
