For Fifteen years, Tom has been an active independent recruiter and job search coach. He pursued Five O’Clock Club certification in early 2010 because the strong methodology afforded a better way to help more job seekers. Tom’s experience means he understands how today’s hiring authorities read resumes, conduct interviews, and screen candidates OUT. Tom makes his living teaching people to position themselves properly, and to interview well. He puts that experience to work on behalf of his coaching clients.
In Tom's own words:
“My favorite part of being a recruiter has always been working with the candidates, preparing them to interview well, and really teaching them how to identify and go after their opportunity the right way. Many recruiters just forward a resume and hope for the best, leaving the candidates on their own. Being an advocate of the candidate is unusual for a recruiter, and this is what led me to launch a coaching practice in 2002: To help the job seekers I could not help as a recruiter. I am a coach first and foremost, and the Five O’Clock Club methodology helps me help the job seeker put himself in the best position to win”.
Tom has some unique work experiences that augment his coaching abilities. With American Clean Energy Systems, he was a published technical author and speaker, on the subjects of clean fuels and eco-friendly lubricants for industry. He has presented “from the shop floor to the top floor”. He has researched and written white papers, led training seminars for a nationwide distribution team, and was invited to speak on behalf of the USEPA’s “Smartway Transport Program” by municipal planning agencies looking to solve diesel emission issues. He did all this while still maintaining a job search coaching practice, and recruiting for a select few clients that earned his time.
Bottom line: Tom has the ability to teach a method and a program to a wide variety of people, and he is committed to helping job seekers WIN at interviews.
