About 10 years ago I was the facilitator for an outpatient chemical dependency program. I discovered that many clients that were referred for addiction, were also referred for anger management. This began my interest in the correllation between anger and addiction. Out of my research I developed CALM: Counseling for Anger and Lifeskills Management. This program offers anger management classes for adults, adolescents, couples and families that struggle with inappropriate anger responses. We focus on teaching new skills to better express anger, but more importantly we work to identify the underlying issues and help clients resolve them. The result is that clients become angry less frequently, with less intensity and can manage and resolve the anger more quickly. In addition we have a specialized program for clients that are in recovery, which is designed to facilitate additional emotional regulation which helps to prevent relapse.
