I came out of uni in the UK with a degree in Business Economics and Marketing. My first role out of uni was with one of the world's largest financial organisations and I was stuck at how marketing is used to influence consumers decisions and makes the market difficult to compare.
In 2007 I started a network of financial comparison websites for Australian consumers which allowed users to cut through the marketing hype and compare products such as credit cards or savings accounts side by side before applying online.
While there are many comparison sites who have sprung onto the market a point of difference is putting out high quality information on taking control of personal finances and having the products work for you rather than the bank. I'm always asked questions such as 'what is the best credit card?' and the message I keep pushing is that there is no one best product for everyone. In the case of credit cards then you need to know what type of card will work best for you. For example, if you are trying to rebuild your credit score then a secured credit card may work well while a Gold credit card with good travel rewards may work well for a high income earner with excellent credit.
