1971-1972 Government Service: Classified Intelligence retrieval and analysis.
1974: Graduated from the University of Texas
Degrees in Mathematics, Biology and Psychology.
Peyton published his first scientific paper in 1973 in collaboration with Dr. R. Mickelson (California Institute of Technology) which dealt with computer modeling of personality types and the development of cybernetic and pattern recognition algorithms.
1975: Graduated from the University of Northern Colorado’s Graduate School with a degree in Educational Methods and Theory.
1976: Taught Mathematics and Physics at a New Mexico High School and authored a State wide adopted mathematics proficiency examination.
Peyton, for financial necessity also worked as a bouncer and ‘Cooler’ in the only bar around for seventy miles in that New Mexico mining town. Peyton held black belts or above in Judo, Wado Ryu Kaate and Aikido. Bu this real world experiences with civilian violence lead to his first book with Paladin Press: A Bouncer’s Guide. This book explained the nature and the thinking patterns of aggressive and physically abusive people and how to deal with them rationally and thus most often avoid violence. The book is considered a modern classic that continues to have a tremendous impact on the Martial Arts community and the Self-Defense industry today.
1978: Peyton left the teaching filed and developed a software development firm to service the ATE (Automatic Test Equipment) industry’s programming needs. In particular, the then new HP’s 3065 ATE devices. Peyton raised the limited Partnership financing to fund the companyand the firm grossed six million dollars in its first year. Peyton largely left all technical aspects of the firm in order to successfully market its services to IBM.
1979: Peyton discovered as so many successfull entrepreneurs do that starting the company was areal adventure, but running it day to day was not. Did he own the company, or did the company now own him?
Hence, Peyton sold his financial interest in the engineering firm and purchased a ranch in Colorado to pursue his theories on adrenal stress conditioning and PTSD. This lead to a training program called RMCAT (www.rmcat.com). This special adrenal stress-training program has attracted attendants from all over the world, including Communist China, Vietnam, Brazil and Japan and every major city in the US.
During this time Peyton wrote Real Fighting: Adrenal Stress Conditioning Through Scenario Based Training for Paladin Press. Black Belt Magazine recently listed this book as being among the best five books ever written on the psychology of personal combat (Black Belt Magazine Issue Date: April 2007).
Peyton continued to refine his research into new training methods and he still operates his RMCAT facility. These training programs are directly based on his biological and biochemical based learning theories and are now even employed by some units of the IDF, US Special Forces and some civilians in Israel and most Federal Air Marshals today.

Reviews have all been very good. Best selling author Tony Hillerman called Peyton’s novel, “A Hell of a good story with believable characters and a very good and thoughtful plot”. More reviews of this novel can be found on Amazon.COM under ISBN # 1598004182. The book has been turned into a screenplay and currently negotiations are in progress with Warner Brothers to make the story into a feature film with the title “Shaman”.
2007, The Present: Peyton lives with his wife of 32 years at his Lake George, Colorado property where he continues to run his RMCAT program at the million dollar plus mountain training facility he has built. Peyton also does fee paid public speaking on the subjects of adrenal stress conditioning and fear and stress management and team building.
By early 2oo6, Peyton had developed a subset of his RMCAT training specifically for corporate team building. The program is called START, Self -Improvement Through Scenario Based Adrenal Response Training. Peyton recognized from his own first hand experience the problems of corporations had, especially as they got larger and international in their scope, with providing an environment where the manager, middle manager or other employee identified with the goals of the corporate institution.
This fracture and disconnect created an enormous waste of talent and employee performance at almost every level of a large corporation. The fact was is in evidence to Peyton that about 38% of all workers in his client’s international firm (and one of the largest corporations on Earth) spent most of their time identifying and then distancing themselves from any potential failures. They had no interest or identification with the corporate goals. But, that was as understandable as it was destructive and wasteful of human resources.
But the START program bonds the executive and managerial groups in such a strong and enduring way that it somewhat like the bonding that occurs among some airplane crash survivors or combat vetrans who served together. It’s just that there is no actual airplane crash or combat in the START program. Though START is intense, andit has to be to achieve its objectives which to date it always has done, and without exception.
Peyton has done countless radio talks shows on his books and has been on the History Channel twice (Tactical to Practical with Hunter Ellis). Peyton’s work in the conflict management field (and the martial arts community) is internationally recognized.
But the self-defense training done at RMCAT, which Black Belt Magazine called “the best self-defense program existent” is truly much more than that. RMCAT is simply a extremely effective vehicle for self-discovery, self-improvement and true self-actualization.
"A man's character is his fate" and "...Either you are in control of yourself, or someone else is" "Nothing of lasting value is almost ever achieved except through effort and some degree of personal risk”
It is not easy for any of us to see ourselves authentically or to truly understand the true basis of our behaviors. And most especially, to see those behaviors that do not serve us. That is a true key question to ask yourself : “Does this behavior serve me?”
And if it does not, “Why then do I repeat it and with the same results”, and sometimes over and over again too. Knowledge is truly power, but knowledge of oneself is trueWISDOM.
