Peter Wright was born in London, England and moved as a young child to Rhodesia. In his early years, he was fortunate to live on a farm where he developed a life-long passion for horses and other animals. The farm life also taught him the virtue of hard work and the discipline that caring for animals requires.
After working for his father for 3 years on a dairy farm, Peter started his first city job with a veterinary medicine manufacturing and wholesaling company in Salisbury, Rhodesia. He moved to South Africa with his young family and after 2 years of surviving as a commission only salesman, he joined a large industrial and consumer products company in the food industry, eventually becoming Marketing Manager.
During this period, Peter developed an export market in several African countries. Tiring of the corporate world, in 1990 he started his own export trading and food packing business and travelled widely in Africa.
In 1994, civil war in 2 major markets effectively closed the business. Virtually overnight Peter found himself without a home, car, any assets or source of income. With the changes taking place in South Africa at the time, the chances of finding employment were remote so Peter went to Zimbabwe (as Rhodesia had become) worked as a consultant and started another small food packing company.
By 1995 he had sold his business and invested the proceeds in his new partners farm whch she had inherited from her family. Over the next few years the farm was built up to become an important exporter of passion fruit, physallis, peas and baby corn in addition to the production of other crops for the local market. At peak season, the farm employed 180 people and generated valuable foreign currency for the country.
With President Mugabes violent campaign to illegally remove commercial farmers from their farms, it became increasingly difficult and dangerous to continue farming. Despite holding out for 3 years and withstanding serious intimidation, death threats, theft and disruption, eventually Peter was illegally detained by the police for 3 days under atrocious conditions and given the ultimatum to leave the farm or remain imprisoned for an indefinite period.
Peter and his partner having again lost all their assets, at the age of 54, moved to Canada in 2004 with only 2 suitcases and a horse saddle each to start a new life.
Following a period of working on a farm, Peter started in Network Marketing and Public Speaking. By sharing his story of surviving serious and dangerous challenges in his life it became apparent that these experiences could be valuable to many people suffering their own challenges because of the current financial chaos.
A heart attack in 2010 put an end to the consulting business. Peter now writes for his own and other blogs, uses his skill of contrarian thinking to help people and businesses overcome adversity and live extraordinary lives. He speaks to individuals, small and large groups.
Peter lives on a farm in South Western Ontario with his partner Sue, 3 horses a dog and 6 cats.
If you listen to your fears, you will die never knowing what a great person you might have been.

I am grateful that I am alive, healthy, sufficiently well-fed and safe, therefore I am more fortunate than millions of people on this planet.
