I am the writer and editor for the company that produces online, interactive classes for resource parents, FosterParentCollege.com, and classes on independent living for youth aging out of the system, Vstreet.com.
At FosterParentCollege.com, we work with experts around the USA to create interactive classes that are based on current best-practices. Many of our classes are research-based; on May 10 the California Evidenced-Based Clearinghouse gave us high marks for the quality of our research on Foster Parent College, making us the first and only online training center to be ranked by CEBC. In August, the Canadian Foster Family Association voted to endorse us as an outstanding training resource for all foster parents in Canada. In September, we received two 3-year SBIR grants; one to collaborate with Ohio IHS to develop their pre-service training program into online versions, and one to collaborate with Colorado-based PREP Marital Education program to create an online PREP program for foster/adopt/kinship parents. In 2011 the NASW approved all FosterParentCollege.com classes for ce contact hours for social workers.
Personally, I am the mother of three active teenagers. Over the years we have been foster parents and hosts to foreign exchange students from Italy, Germany and Japan.
My company and I are based in Eugene, OR.
SocialLearning.com, online marketplace for social learning books, DVDs and CD-ROMs from Northwest Media and select vendors. "Chew With Your Mouth Full," "Money Medical: Healthy Money Management," "The Teenage Human Body Operator's Manual," and "Off Road Parenting" are just a few of our popular products.
FosterParentCollege.com provides high quality online classes for foster, adoptive and kinship parents. Each course is interactive and progressive to engage parents and enhance learning. Our faculty are nationally known experts in the fields of social work, pediatrics, psychology, psychiatry and education.
Vstreet.com takes a different approach. Within 2 years of aging out of the system, 25% of emancipated youth end up incarcerated and an additional 20% will be homeless. Vstreet gives kids the skills and attitudes they need to make it on their own, and the animation, music and interactives make learning fun.
FosterParentCollege.com courses are now approved for NASW ce contact hours for social workers.
FosterParentCollege.com is endorsed by the Foster Family-based Treatment Association and the Canadian Foster Family Association
Approved by National CASA and the National Adoption Center.
