While beginning his work in a clinical setting, John found some people did not require mental health counseling or psychotherapy. What they required was help in developing greater life skills while others, who required counseling, also needed to work on setting goals unrelated to their therapy (or at least distantly related to their therapy). This took John in the direction of Coaching. As an Integral Developmental Coach, it brings John great joy to be a part of someone's continued development and to see them achieve their own personal goals!
John sees people, systems and the world in a developmental unfolding. Each new step we take is guided by the steps we took in the past.
These steps include everyone and everything that has ever walked along side us.
At every moment each of us is participating in some form of being In Awakening and we feel honored to be able to guide you in your Evolving process
What is "Integral Developmental Coaching"?
Integral Developmental Coaching works with you in four distinct and interconnected areas in order to foster self-understanding and growth. In examining these areas we are able to quickly note where blockages exist as well as where strengths exist, assisting you in reaching your desired goal; these include:
1. Your Internal Experience (thoughts, feelings– known primarily to you alone. Your joys, your fears, your spiritual beliefs, your pleasures, your anxieties etc.)
2. Your External Experience specific to you (your behaviors and actions – observable by you and others. These may include exercise, diet, sleep patterns, medical issues – behaviors that have moved you forward or arrested your development toward your desired goals – both past and present)
3. Your Cultural Experience – this is like an external experience specific to your internal beliefs, the you connected to others (this is the influence and interactions of the group experience – your family, ethnicity, significant others, friends, boss, social interactions, etc. and how you give meaning to these interactions)
4. Your Social System (your interactions with others – these can be observed by yourself and others and include your neighborhood – both past and present, socioeconomic status, environmental factors like beauty, clutter, freedom or danger as well as access to support systems)
These dimensions give you a map of the territory. THE TERRITORY BEING YOU. You will use this in the coaching process to reach your Destination!
And just as a map is used in exploring the real terrain. We provide you by email, a self-reflective inventory that examines these four areas in depth. This inventory is filled out by you before your first coaching session.
The Inventory assists you in exploring areas you may not have realized are core to being successful in achieving your Goals .
It begins to shine a light on the question, “Who am I?”, at a level you may not have experienced before. After completing the Inventory, many individuals have found some of the answers they came to coaching for in the first place and are able to then begin the interactive coaching process at a new level!
As an instrument of change, it will support you as you consider and decide the best way to achieve your desired outcome and goals.
You will observe areas of your life that are highly developed and other areas that are not as developed
(these are seen as a fluid developmental evolution – in the sense that Everything is evolving and developing – and we honor all levels of development in our life).
Taking on this view assists in moving toward a kind and compassionate observance of the self, on in which we watch ourselves during our vacillations, sometimes reaching forward, sometimes backward, sometimes even derailing, until transformation eventually promotes a New Sense of Self. A fluid movement and interconnection between the 4 Areas.
