Mark G. Agresti, M.D. and Associates is a multi-disciplinary addictions and psychiatric practice made up of caring professionals who strive to provide to quality service based on the individual needs of our patients. Our practice focuses on the treatment of mental illness, addictions, dual diagnosis and outpatient detoxification from drugs and alcohol.

 

Detoxification and Addiction Treatment

Many alcoholics and/or drug addicts are unable to successfully "work" a recovery program until successful medical detoxification is accomplished. Medicine may be prescribed to reduce or eliminate alcohol cravings, hypoglycemia, depression, mood swings, anxiety, insomnia, tremors, memory loss, stomach and intestinal issues, and/ or other problems which prevent alcoholics and/or drug users from controlling their addictions.

The second phase of treatment for addiction is psychotherapy and Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous. 12 Step Programs have demonstrated over time to be strong component of successful recovery. We strongly suggest that in conjunction with medical treatment, the individual attend a program that provides therapy, education and support

Dr. Mark G. Agresti & Associates have developed a State-of-the-Art detoxification program for effective addiction treatment. We have successfully treated addiction(s) to prescription and street drugs as well as alcohol in an outpatient setting.

 

Psychiatric Treatment

Dr. Dr. Mark G. Agresti & Associates have been treating a full range of psychiatric problems for 20 years in West Palm Beach. The practice consists of Psychiatrists, Nurse Practitioners and therapists who work as a team to provide outstanding care.

Treatment begins with the development of an accurate diagnosis based on the findings of a thorough psycho-social evaluation. The focus of treatment is to reduce symptoms, alleviate the presenting problem and improve the overall quality of life for the patient.

A treatment plan is developed between the patient and treatment providers. This may include prescribing the best medication for the presenting problem and/or working on the issues outlined in the treatment plan in therapy. Studies have shown that the best outcomes are reached through a combination of medication and therapy when indicated. Individual, marital, family, group and play therapy are various modalities used in treatment.

Dual Diagnosis

Many of the patients that are seen at our office are in need of treatment for Dual Diagnosis. This is where a patient has an addiction problem and at the same time psychiatric disorder. These cases can be quite complex as treatment must focus on both the addiction and psychiatric issues throughout the course of treatment.
