Many years ago, while working as a district attorney, I lost a case where I was prosecuting one of the most evil predators I’d ever seen. I lost the case on a technicality, quite simply because I didn’t know a critical piece of the law. And seeing the accusatory look on the faces of the victims, I became determined that this would never happen again.
I found that there were other people just like me: Doctors who misdiagnosed an illness because they never had time to read the latest medical journals. Executives who mismanaged their companies because they were not up to date with the latest news and information. Students who experienced failure at school because they couldn’t manage the work-load. And other students who sacrificed their dreams of a great education at a great university because their grades weren’t good enough.
We live in a world where knowledge is everything, and where failure is all too often the penalty for simply not knowing enough, or not knowing more than the other guy. Most of us spend 16 or more years acquiring the skills needed for a profession or a career, but we spend only the first 2 years learning how to read. And this is the secret … to read faster with better comprehension and retention. To become a master of new information rather the victim of that slow, boring, can’t concentrate, fall-asleep-while-reading, can’t remember what I’ve just read, exercise that our teachers once called reading.
And so I set out to make a difference. To provide people with the necessary skills to keep pace with the flow of new information. And this is a passion that has driven my company for over 30 years.
