What is Mindfulness?

Learning how to become more in touch with our feelings and how to direct positive actions when they are needed is what mindfulness is about.

Mindfulness is trusting in your inner-self to guide you to that place of peace and understanding.

The dictionary says this about mindfulness:

1: The quality or state of being conscious or aware of something: their mindfulness of the wider cinematic tradition.

2: A mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.

Walk as if you are kissing the earth with your feet.

"Breathe in deeply to bring your mind home to your body. Then look at, or think of, the person triggering this emotion: With mindfulness, you can see that she is unhappy, that she is suffering. You can see her wrong perceptions. You can see that she is not beautiful when she says things that are unkind".
Thich Nhat Hanh: Vietnamese Zen Buddhist Monk

Mindfulness is a way of life

It is not enough to know the definition of mindfulness, it is imperative for you to become intimate with how to utilize this and it needs to become second nature to you. When you are in the moment of anger, sorrow, pain, intimidation, low self-esteem, overwhelmed, you must be able to see the truth of the situation you are in.

There are always going to be negative situations, but just to deny there is a problem is not enough. In fact, avoiding a problem because you believe it is the spiritual thing to do, or you do not want to give it power is not enough.

That which we resist, persist

Remember, everything is cause and effect. Being Mindful will put us in the right frame of mind to see the truth of who we are and let us create that which is our true nature. Peace, Abundance,Wellness, all the good that God is.

Mindfulness Techniques

1: Take a minute to breath deeply in and out until your focus is on the good not the negative feelings you may be experiencing.

2: Visualize the God in you and know the perfection of yourself.

3: Focus on a mantra to get you focused, then let your inner guide direct you to goodness.

4: Guided meditations are a great way to focus and calm your outer world.

5: Count backwards from 20 focusing on your breath and visualize it getting slower and slower until you are not aware you are doing it.

6: Take a walk outside and consciously observe everything around you. Watch the wind blowing a branch, a bird playing, a cloud floating into a picture. You get the idea.

These are just general ideas to get you used to being in the moment. Seeing the good in all our Brothers and Sisters. Knowing that we live in a wonderful world of endless possibilities.

So what is mindfulness?

It is the ability to live in the moment. It is the knowing that you are one with God. It is saying I AM not what I AM feeling, doing, not seeing, knowing you are beyond the limited expression you may be experiencing and being able to really see, feel and experience the wonders of God's peace at any moment you choose.

Thank you for reading what is mindfulness and remember,

We are only limited by our not doing.

Author's Bio:

After reading a book "You can heal your life" by Louise Hay, who is also a Science of Mind Minister, I decided to study this philosophy. After finding Science of Mind Centers in N.Y. I started to take classes. I studied with some very fine teachers over the years. In 1993 I was asked to be on the board of directors for a Center in N.Y. which was a great honor. Shortly after that my wife and I started the New Thought Healing Center Of Connecticut. We taught classes and had weekly services until 1996 when we moved to Florida.

In Tampa I also was involved with a center. As life continues to grow, my former wife and I decided to continue on different paths. The life we had together was a wonderful growing experience. Today she is still regarded as one of my closest friends.

I still live in Florida with my beautiful wife. I was remarried to a great lady on Nov.7.2009. We have 5 rescue dogs and 2 cats.

Life continues to unfold and I will always create wonderful and fulfilling new experiences. Having an online Ministry is my way to fulfill my true potential.

My Page @ Metaphysics-For-Better-Living is just one of many pages that will be a Blessing to me.

This website will continue to expand on a constant basis. We all will get great growth from this.

As I have discovered, The Teacher is also the Student.

So, come along with me on this Journey we call Life

and the Universe will open to us with never ending

Possibilities.
