These are also sometimes referred to as 2D bar codes because these two dimensional bar codes encode data horizontally and vertically. Therefore, store much more data than conventional bar codes.

What exactly do they do?

These codes to store information compactly. When decoded (when scanned with a mobile reader or decoder) can be linked to an online source of information if it is a URL, image, video or plain text. For example, after scanning a QR code with your phone, the decoder will send a website.

QR codes carry a load of information to you quickly and conveniently. These QR code readers, mobile users no longer have to write long hyperlinks. And when scanned, data is stored on the phone long-term reference. This is hassle free and convenient for mobile users on the move.

Who would use and where we can find these codes?

Off-line, we can see these codes in magazines, covers of books, brochures, business cards, posters, shirts, mugs, stationery and yes, even billboards. You can even stick QR standards on the labels of products and packaging (with respect to the product description), basically anywhere you want to store the information.

QR codes bring the real world outside the line of visitors who are scanning the codes (perhaps in a booklet) to the word online, such as blogs, Facebook Fan page, the website of events, YouTube channel and even their online stores and websites. They also attract online users who use their mobile devices to do local search on Google or location-based social networking Gowalla Foursquare or the owners of off-line. QR codes bridge the gap between Internet companies and online baseline and merging together.
