The exhilaration that comes with spiritual freedom requires knowledge of where you’re experiencing mental or spiritual bondage. Almost all stuck points can be eliminated with these three simple steps. Try them for yourself and find the freedom that will enable you to bring more peace, love and light to your life and our planet.
Forgiveness is the first step
As souls having a human adventure, our only true desire is to feel love and connection. To experience this, we must awaken the freedom only forgiveness offers.
While forgiveness can be a confusing subject, it’s important to remember that we don't have to forgive the act. The only thing that’s necessary is that we feel, and eventually release, the full range of emotions the act has created.
When we feel betrayed or abandoned, the anger and pain can be overwhelming. Allow yourself to truly experience that. Don’t be afraid of it. Feeling it fully enables you to reach the sadness underneath, and when you permit yourself to sit in that space – in the chasm created as our beliefs are reconciled with reality – forgiveness is not far behind.
The only part that ever needs forgiveness is the piece inside us that forgot we are all souls having a human experience. Our human journeys are written by the soul to fulfill and complete our soul growth. If we can forgive the humanness, we can become free to awaken the love held deep within our being, a love for ourselves and for humanity.
The next step to freedom is exquisite self-care
The early stages of the forgiveness process burn a lot of energy. Without realizing it, we resist the anger and sadness, creating a tug of war that requires a huge expenditure. This often means we slack off on taking care of ourselves. Maybe we eat too much junk or let the clutter build up.
Perhaps we isolate as a way to disconnect because being around those who know and love us may force us to feel things we’re not yet ready to. If you find yourself in a rut, unable to access the energy for the things that bring you joy, embrace it. And then step up your self-care game.
Once, during a difficult time, I realized that I was forcing myself to keep to a schedule I didn’t have the energy for. I wasn’t being honest with myself that I needed processing time to deal with the emotions I had. In the midst of dirty laundry and unopened mail, I marched into the bathroom, looked in the mirror and said, “I am going to take exquisite care of you today. Tell me what you need.”
I rescheduled a non-urgent doctor’s appointment. I bought myself some time to complete a project. I cancelled a commitment I wished I hadn’t made. And I gave myself the gift of space. I had the most delightful day because I showed myself what mattered. The process of forgiveness shouldn’t feel like a prison sentence. The painful emotions are much easier to transcend when we can show to ourselves the love we give freely others.
The final step to freedom is releasing the past
So many times, I’ve seen clients and friends stumble in their efforts to find the freedom we all want because they were tied to the past. Be it promises that were made in another life, karma or even a lesson that wasn’t fully learned, our past lives influence the one we’re living now.
I don’t even want to think about where I’d be in my life without the guidance from the Akashic Records. I experienced much loss early on and the feelings of abandonment and betrayal were so strong they could’ve easily prevented me from being where I am today.
It was only through learning about experiences and relationships from other lives in the Akashic Records that I found the freedom I now have. I allowed the Akashic Masters to share with me these unresolved issues from the past. With their support, I moved through the process of forgiveness – whether it was about forgiving myself or someone else – and freed myself from the belief in victimhood.
These three steps are simple. They’re not always easy. Yes, the more of us who choose this conscious path, the better our world becomes, but we need guidance on this journey.
I get the most clear direction when I become still, and meditation is a fabulous tool for locating that quiet place within. There are many different ways to meditate, from a walk in the park and listening to peaceful music to chanting or repeating a mantra. No matter which method you choose, I wish you light and love on the path to claiming your spiritual freedom!
