Where were you on this day last year? What were you doing? Who were you being? What were your challenges, your triumphs and your failures? What were you proud of?

Where are you today? What are you doing? Who are you being? What are your challenges, your triumphs and your failures? What are you proud of?

"The measure of success is not whether you have a tough problem to deal with, but whether it's the same problem you had last year."
- John Foster Dulles

Where would you like to be this time next year?

No, really.

Take a moment and think about that . . .

December 10, 2010.

If this year, you are still challenged by the same issues you were dealing with last year, what are you going to do differently in the year to come to move beyond them? Imagine where you could be NOW if only you had overcome these problems LAST YEAR!

It’s time to take action. It’s time to take control of your life and start making some serious decisions about what kind of life you want to live. Guess what? This doesn’t have to be hard and heavy. This can be joyful, exciting and EASY! Imagine THAT!

The important thing is that you make a conscious decision to make something different happen. That’s all you have to do is MAKE THE DECISION. In your mind, once you have made a decision that’s it. There is no back door. You cut yourself off from any other possible option.

What’s really cool is that once you do make the unwavering decision to do something, the Universe lines things up to support that very decision. People, circumstances, thoughts, ideas and solutions “all of a sudden” begin to show up! Then it becomes easy. But first you have to make the decision.

So, I ask you again.

Where do you want to be this time next year?

"If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got."

Personal Development Assignment

Here is your assignment, and I really encourage you to do this one. Don’t just read through it and think, “Yeah, I really should do that.” Make the decision right now - in this moment – that you are going to do things differently then you did last year.

Maybe for you it looks something like this:

  • This year when I say I am going to do something I follow through, no matter
    what.
  • This year I will only agree to do things I intend on following through with.
  • This year I will make my SELF a priority.
  • This year I will Stretch Beyond My Comfort Zone and OWN my Personal Power.

If these affirmations don’t feel right for you, create the ones that do. The important thing is, you have got to mean it.

OK. Here is your assignment:

  1. Go back to the beginning of this article and answer the questions about where you were last year, if you can remember. If you need some help, take a look at your calendar, date book and journal. Call a close friend or relative that you often share with and see if they can help jog your memory.
  2. Answer the questions from the beginning of this article about where you are now. I really want you to give yourself the gift of reminiscing about these last 12 months. Answer each question in detail. Give yourself credit where credit is due.
  3. Now look forward to 2010 and answer the questions one last time.
Perhaps you are more visual and you want to create a vision board. Or maybe you enjoy writing and you chose to write your vision story. Give great detail and emotion to this project. The more you can activate the FEELINGS of this vision becoming a reality, the better your chances that it will.
  4. This last step is an invitation to consider enrolling yourself in a class.
A class that will provide you with structure, tools and tips, accountability and
sacred support of like-minded people on similar journeys to help make your new
    vision become a reality.
