I have a checklist of over 70 types of content that business owners could be writing. That sounds overwhelming, but as a business owner, you probably don't need to write all 70+. And... to keep in front of your market and your community and to establish your credibility, you do need to be writing something.

So, what do you write?

Obviously, you want to put your energy, time, and effort where it's going to make the most good. Here are the 5 pieces of content you SHOULD be writing or tweaking.

Articles - Articles show your expertise and build credibility. And if you post them on your website and in social media and submit them to article banks, you create SEO and link love back to your website. (Your articles can be in the form of video, which is uber cool in this day and age as YouTube is the #2 search engine in the world.)

Blogs - Blogs allow you to be a bit more informal, casual, and conversational. They let the human side of you out. With fewer demands (blogs can be anything: quotations, snippets of everyday life, shared videos, etc.), they give you the opportunity to get more content out there more frequently, again putting you in front of your community more often.

Bio - You need a well-crafted bio that accurately and easily conveys who you are, what you do, and who you do it for. As you evolve professionally and personally (most of us entrepreneurs reinvent ourselves on a continuous basis), your bio needs to change as well. Regularly revisit and tweak as necessary.

Website home page headlines - Just as with the bio above, with your continuous reinvention, your home page headlines need to be tweaked. And, more than likely, you're getting clearer and clearer on your target market and its pains. Your home page headlines need to reflect this. Revisit and tweak often (and maybe even do some testing to see which headlines garner the best results).

Programs/products - Programs and products allow you to showcase more of your expertise in the form of curricula, exercises, worksheets, templates, deeper content. And if your customers also get you (coaching, consulting, 1:1 time), they doubly get to see your value.

These 5 areas are just a small portion of all the content you could be writing, but they are the most powerful and have the most impact - both for your community and tribe who already know you as well as new-to-you peeps who will come to love you.
