It has been said that the earth has a heart beat, an electromagnetic beat that can be observed from space as well as earth. This pulse was first documented by Nikola Tesla in 1899. The phenomenon know as the Schumann Resonance, named for Winfried Otto Schumann, has been studied bay many scientists all over the world. Schumann accurately predicted the existence of this electromagnetic resonance in 1952. Satellite and earthbound observations have shown that the Schumann Resonance's fundamental mode is a standing wave in the earth - ionosphere cavity. The lowest frequency and highest intensity is at approximately 7.83 Hz. or approximately 8 cycles per second. Now, keep that frequency in mind and remember that it is not beat like a heart but an electromagnetic pulse.

Like an Alpha Wave.

Alpha waves are neural oscillations, electric waves, in the 8 to 12 Hz range. The alpha brain waves are measured by EEG or MEG and are at their strongest when the brain is in the wakeful relaxed mode. Zen meditation has shown to create noticeably more alpha waves. This meditation has been shown to be effective in treating of stress, anxiety and anger issues. With this information psychologists have developed biofeedback techniques to increase alpha waves to treat many phobias, calm hyperactivity, treat stuttering as well as the stress, anger and anxiety issues.

I am sure you have heard the phrase " Becoming One with the Universe"? Maybe we should say "One with the Earth". If we think of the Schumann Resonance as the Earth's Alpha Wave, then by increasing our Alpha activity we are becoming more in tune with the Earth, more at Oneness. By increasing our 8 Hz Alpha Waves we are connecting to the Earths natural Alpha Wave. And by doing that we are connecting to every other person also connecting to the Earth's Alpha. We are creating a world wide Alpha harmonic, a world wide interconnection. We are creating a connection with the Earth, a connection with all mankind, a connection with GOD.

Connecting with God, The Universe, The Source isn't that something we are all doing , or should be?

What can you do to increase your Alpha?

Deep Breathing... There are many articles and books written on the subject. A quick search will give many to choose from. Deep Breathing, however, is not complex. The system I use is to breathe deeply and slowly in though the nose for a count of 4, hold your breath for a count of 4 then release through the mouth with a whoosh for a count of 4, hold for a count of 4. Repeat 4 or 5 times. Do that 6 to 10 times a day.

.

Meditation... Meditation can get you to the Alpha state quickly and effectively once you learn how to do it properly. I recommend you make meditation a daily practice. Early in the day before you enter the fray is the most effective time. But you can meditate anytime you have a few minutes. I recommend the Sylva people to help you learn meditation.

Hypnosis... One of the more useful methods to reach the Alpha state and most misunderstood is hypnosis. Hypnosis is a deep state of relaxation and when combined with recorded suggestions it becomes a powerful tool to reprogram you mind. You are in control and cannot be forced to do things against your will. Hypnosis can put you in the Alpha state quickly and deeply. The people at Hypnosis Downloads have a large library of safe and effective programs.

Brainwave Entrainment... This is the most effective method, especially when used in conjunction with breathing and meditation. Brainwave entrainment is listening to certain tones or music through your speakers or head phones. Just allow your brain waves to synchronize with the audio. I like Mind Power. The have an extensive library to choose from.
