Boosting your credibility and your expert status is absolutely critical if you want to attract more clients, opportunities and money. You can’t run with the big dogs if you play with the puppies.
In order to boost your expert status, the first and most important thing is to increase your visibility. You can have the greatest product or service since sliced bread, but if no one knows about your or your business, it doesn’t make the slightest bit of difference.
So how do you get more visibility?
First of all, people have to know that you even exist. How do you do that?
Writing articles and blogs are a great way to share your knowledge and get you more exposure. By submitting your articles to various directories and doing it on a consistent basis can give you expert status on their site. It also get’s your information out in front of a larger audience than just on your own blog. For example, EzineArticles.com gets about 50 million unique visitors each month. That is some serious traffic. But if that’s all you are doing, you are missing out on an even bigger piece of the pie.
People that go to blog sites enjoy “reading” content, that’s their preference, to read. But what about people that either don’t like to read or have a hard time grasping concepts by reading? They certainly aren’t going to these sites.
So how can you reach an even larger audience? Here are just 2 ways you can do that:
1. Repurpose your articles to audio. You can submit podcasts to iTunes or other sites or offer it as an MP3. People are on the go and if they can download it to their iPod or any other device, they can listen to it in their car, working out at the gym or while going for a walk. There are lots of reasons people like audio but for some, they grasp the content much easier than reading.
2. Repurpose your articles to video. You can submit your video to YouTube or any of the other video distribution sites as well as iTunes. YouTube exceeds 4 billion views a day which is nearly double the prime-time audience of all 3 major U.S. broadcast networks combined.
This is not only a matter of getting your content in front of as many people as possible, it’s also about giving people information in the format that they prefer. That’s the great thing about the internet; you can create and repurpose your content in so many different ways.
You need to realize that when you create one piece of content, it is not just limited to what you created it for. Think about how you can get the most mileage out of everything you do.
By generating and sharing a lot of content in your area of expertise, the more visible you become. Becoming more visible generates more opportunities, more clients and more money.
By repurposing your content in various formats, you are leveraging your time and expertise. Experts are out there, front and center, sharing their knowledge because they know that the more they share, the more they are going to get back.
They also understand that by giving away valuable information gives them the credibility that they are the expert. They know what they are talking about. They aren’t afraid to share their knowledge.
So how do you see yourself? Are you the expert in your niche? What are you doing to build your credibility and reputation?
