Most of the time, teenagers become too hyped about obtaining their first real four wheel drive. Before you get carried away and have an impulse to gratuitously buy them anexcessive brand new car, it might be better to consider buying a second-hand one from a used car dealer instead.

At this point, teenagers do things through trial and error and minor car hang ups are to be expected because they are still trying to familirize themselves with driving. And because a new vehicle is a big investment and it requires higher car loans, it is wiser to give them used cars from a Hyundai dealer for example, so that you do not have to wince and bite your elbow if the car gets involved in a little bit of a mess. But before formally passing on the keys of your teenager’s car, make sure that you first apply these seven steps for their safety:

1. Let your child enrol in a driving school. Obtaining a license for your child should be first on your list.

2. Try driving with him for at least 20 hours. You observe your child’s driving habits if you can accompany him while he is manning his new car. You can make this as an additional “test” after he has acquired his license.

3. Always put on seat belts, whether you are on the driver or passenger’s seat. Six out of 10 drivers between the age group of 16 to 20 die in car accidents just because they are not wearing seat belts.

4. No alcohol drinking if he is going to drive afterwards. If your kid has a problem with restraining himself from drinking alcohol before a road cruise, stop the transaction with the Hyundai dealer for the mean time and deal with this first. Alcohol drinking raises the mortality rate of your child. Remember, accidents hurt - safety doesn't.

5. Prohibit him from talking on the phone while driving.

6. Always follow street lights, street signs, and speed limits.

7. Always secure that the car is in the right condition. Tune up the car regularly or if necessary to make sure that your child is riding on a safe vehicle.

There are a lot of car suppliers who can offer you bargain deals for pre-owned cars. You can even ask a used car dealer in your area for available special offers in their company. By doing this, you may find yourself making car loans with lesser interest rates.

Be a model to your child. Good driving habit can be passed on, so make sure you are following these rules yourself.
