Knowing your life purpose makes life more meaningful and fulfilling. It gives you the “why” to look forward to in your day, in your work, and in your life overall. Knowing your true values can point you in the direction of your purpose; they underpin meaning. Otherwise, you may find yourself in the nightmare of the “routine”: Wake up, go to work, come home, eat, take care of “stuff”, and go to sleep… repeat. How dull. How painful! Life is meant to be an adventure of growth and learning. It’s not about clinging to a mediocre life, and then you die. How sad. Thank goodness for the power of choice, the power to change. While change can feel scary and uncomfortable, it is what adds spice to life. Besides, that, it’s unavoidable!
Why do we so often fall into miserable ruts and get stuck, yet are afraid of change? A huge part of it is conditioning. Sure, there is the element of danger in the unknown, but Mother Nature has given us the tools to cope and innovate. Our brain is amazingly adaptable, and it leads us to “self-fulfilling prophecy.” This is part of the problem. We believe change is scary and hard, so “be it unto you as you believe.” We have trained our brain to focus on what we don’t want and fear… and we sometimes find it.
In fact, when you focus on something you are sending a command to your brain that says, “I want this.” You see, the mind thinks in pictures and doesn’t interpret the word “don’t.” In essence, what you focus on means “yes and so be it” to the mind. Hence, be aware of where you are focusing. Make time to search for your purpose, why you were born. What is your service to life? Have you tried making this a focus of your intention? You are no accident, regardless of what anyone has told you.
When you have clarity of what you DO want, what your heart’s desire is to do and accomplish, and your spirit is attended to and nurtured, you will find that your life begins to be lived from a place of passion instead of dread. You begin to come alive and leave the masses of the walking dead. You see, your destiny is in your hands.
We cannot control all of our circumstances, but the one thing we can control—how we think—needs to be exercised if you want to build your mind muscle. Elevate your leadership. Live life purposefully, with clarity and passion. Change your script. Go ahead… make your day. And whatever happens, assign the meaning to it that empowers you instead of weakening yourself. You can do it.
