I believe that it is a good idea to periodically let go of beliefs and energies that no longer serve you.

Right now, I am in the process of trying to let go of my belief that I need to be in my masculine energy to survive. I’m working on letting go of some of my masculine energy to allow more of my feminine energy to step forward.

If you know me, that may or may not resonate. I am pretty girly. I wear feminine clothes. I paint my nails and do my make-up. But, that is all external. What I’m talking about is more on an energetic level.

I have fallen into an energetic belief set that I need to BE IN CHARGE all the time. I have lived alone for most of my adult life, and the represents a belief that “if I don’t do it for myself, who will?” On face value, that seems pretty reasonable. HOWEVER, it does not leave room for the Universe and the other creatures in it to support me and delight me in surprising ways.

I’m telling you what’s going on with me as an example for you to get the sense of what I mean by “letting go.”

A flower whose energy helps us to let go of patterns that do not serve us is the periwinkle…

Periwinkle (Vinca Minor)

Periwinkle plants in our physical yards and gardens are quite dependable. They don’t need lots of our attention to thrive and grow -- even in the shady parts of our gardens.

The energy of Periwinkle is bright, loving, and playful. Periwinkle can help us to shine light on areas in our lives where we need to let go of feelings or patterns that no longer serve us -- or to forgive.

They can help us to find a light-hearted ability to process our feelings and to let go (as we always should) of any negativity we have stored.

Periwinkle can help us to remember the high-spirited energy that we had as children -- when we would react and emote in the moment, just letting it all hang out and thus letting it all go so that we can move forward unencumbered by lingering, unresolved past emotions.

A Periwinkle Affirmation:

I let go of all that does not serve me.
I allow light to come into the dark corners
of my spirit to permit my light to shine fully.
